North Glendale Family Update
October 23, 2022
Good afternoon ~
We have a busy 4 day week ahead!
Conferences: Enjoy this check in with your NG team! First quarter has flown by and the kids have blown us away with their perseverance and growth.
Report cards: First quarter progress can be reviewed via or district report cards, starting Tuesday October 25. The Kirkwood School District uses Infinite Campus for 6-12 student grades. Parents can access Infinite campus via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Halloween & Fall Fun: We wrap up the week with our Halloween parade, Fall parties and PTO sponsored Trunk or Treat!
Whew! We sure know how to pack a week!
Please reach out if I can be of support around this, or any other NG topic!

Books for NG Kids - If you’d like to donate and help provide Scholastic books for ALL NG kids, please use the following eWallet link to make a donation. (The form says 3rd grade, but disregard. The system just makes us choose a grade.)
Books for Teachers - Info coming next week about how you can add to classroom libraries!
eWallet - Purchases can be made with cash, card, or cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Set up an Ewallet for your child.
Please email Lauren Graham with any questions.
HALLOWEEN AT NG!
As we did last year, our parade route will stay on our campus. This is for safety concerns as
as making sure that every NG student who wants to walk the whole route is able to do so.
Additionally, we will have a staggered start schedule in HOPES of making it a little easier on spectators to keep track of where their kiddos are. Spectators will be welcome to view from just about anywhere on our campus ~ except the sidewalks, as that is where the kids will be walking.
A staggered start will begin at 2:00 with Kindergarten ~ we will exit by grade levels onto the back playground.
Kids will exit the parade and head right to their classrooms for Fall parties. Any adult entering the building must enter through the front doors and check in through our Raptor system.
Does your Student Need an Alternative?
We know that our activities on Friday may not match some families wishes, or some kids may find the whole afternoon way too overstimulating. We will have an alternate Fall fun activity for kids who would prefer to not be part of the parade and/or the Fall party. Please email Jennifer if this is the case for your student.
Reminders about Costumes
As your Superstar contemplates their costume please adhere to our guidelines:
- Costumes will be BROUGHT to school, not worn.
- Kids must be able to put on their costume independently, over their street clothes.
- No weapons, gory items, scary masks etc. A good rule of thumb ~ if you have to ask if it is too scary or gross for our school parade....it probably is.
TRUNK OR TREAT: FRIDAY 10/28 6:30-8:30
We are looking forward to a fun Trunk or Treat Evening
If your FAMILY is attending please be sure to register!
We still need a few more TRUNKS to fill the parking lot! Themes can be elaborate or simple and hosting is a great way to see lots of people that evening

CANDY donations are still needed to make this event successful. These can be dropped off directly to school. I hear that Costco and Sam's has great deals right now!
Please sign up for a VOLUNTEER slot. They are short to allow you plenty of time for fun! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0B4AAFA623AAF85-ngtrunk
Veterans Day! FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11 in the NORTH GLENDALE GYM 9:30 a.m.
Details are coming together, but for now, please help our planning and let us know if your family has a Veteran or person currently in active service. We want to honor folks who may not be able to join us AND those who can be with us for our program.
Student Absences
As the busy winter months approach, we know some NG families may be traveling during school days. As a reminder, there is no virtual option for school this year as all learning takes place in person. In-person learning experiences cannot be duplicated, so teachers will work with students to catch them up when students return to school.
We prefer to have all NG kids at school every day but realize students miss for various reasons. Please know that our attendance policy states that attendance letters are sent home once a student reaches 5 full days of missed school. Letters are also sent home at 10 days, 15 days, etc. These letters serve as a notice as days can accumulate quickly.
