I was born in Houston, Texas in 1975. I met my husband Nick while in highschool and we were married just after I graduated. His job as a manager at Home Depot took us to Chicago in 1994, and we continued to bounce from city to city as he took on more responsibility, eventually becoming a district manager.
It was during this time that we started a family: Caitlyn (96), Cayla (97), Nathan (01), and Natalie (02). I loved my time as a stay-at-home mom, but decided to go back to school full time when Natalie was in kindergarten. Around this time my husband left Home Depot and became a store manager at Lowes. We relocated to Rochester and have been here for the last 12 years.
I earned my BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Communication Arts and Literature in 2008 and became a GIP teacher at Franklin, earning my Masters in Education in 2010. I began at John Adams in 2012 as a .6 LTS while holding a .4 FTE at Willow. At both buildings I taught 7th grade English. In 2013 I became a full-time teacher at John Adams. Go Jaguars!
My oldest daughter bought a house this year and is working as a nurse at the Mayo Clinic. My middle daughter attends UW- Eau Claire and is majoring in Speech Pathology while my son is in his first year in Marquette University's engineering program. My youngest daughter is a senior in high school and hopes to study psychology in the future. We love our two dogs, Sasha and Wrigley, and our cat, Kitty. Nick and I spend our weekends going to concerts and visiting our kids.
Three years ago I decided to return to school and earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialist Licensure from Concordia University. I have a deep passion for the students and staff in this school and plan to be here for many more years to come!
