NYS Practice Testing
Each Spring we are required by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to test our students in grades 3-8 in both ELA and Math. These state tests have moved to a computer based format. In 2018 and 2019, the NYS testing system crashed repeatedly during state testing. NYSED is holding a practice assessment of the computer based system to ensure that our systems are capable of handling the testing standards as required by the state. We are participating in this trial test because it allows our students to gain experience with the format while also allowing us to evaluate our system. We will be holding 40-minute testing sessions with our students attending in-person classes on the following dates:
- Tuesday, January 12: students in grades 6-8
- Wednesday, January 13: students in grades 3-8
Students will not be graded on these tests; they do not need to have any knowledge of the questions asked. The tests are only to give them practice and ensure our systems are ready.
