Personalized-Mastery Learning Grades - How they work newsletters:
Power School & Mastery Note
- Every two weeks all our teachers are entering the latest and greatest grades from our Summit Learning platform into Power School. It will only be the overall letter grade you see in Power School.
- If you want to see a day to day update of how your student is doing currently you will want to go to Summit Learning. Summit Learning will have not only the grade but all the supporting information and resources for each assessment and project.
- Projects that have come due if not submitted by a student will be entered as a zero. In our system of mastery they will need to work with their teachers on past due projects to either show they are ready to submit the project late and/or focus on the next time those project skills will be assessed. As the skills are assessed in the future the highest score on that skill will override a previous lower score on that project skill (cognitive skill).
Parent Teacher Conferences
With parent teacher conferences right around the corner we want to bring a few items to your attention:
- Conferences will be Tuesday October 20th 5pm to 8pm & Wednesday October 21st 5pm to 8pm
- Conferences will be held online using video conferencing (primarily Zoom)
- Conferences will be scheduled with your student’s Mentoring Teacher
- Per student you will have just the one conference appointment with their Mentor Teacher to review how they are doing in all aspects of learning
- Your meeting time will be based on what times are available and what works best for you using the Calendly application
- A Calendly notification will be sent to you via a Remind text or email from your student’s Mentor Teacher
- If Calendly application isn’t your preferred way of scheduling or you don’t respond to the invitation, your student’s Mentor Teacher will also reach out to you via email and/or phone
- We are excited that each student’s family can have an appointment conferencing this way along with the opportunity for you to make a strong connection with your student’s Mentor Teacher which is important to have and maintain throughout the year
- We understand this limits the ability to access some content teachers you may need to communicate with, please just note this desire to you child’s mentor teacher for follow up or as usual you can always reach out to any teacher via email, Remind text, or phone
- It is of great value to have your student in their conference with their Mentor Teacher, plus they can help you with Calendly and/or Zoom using their device since it’s what they use to have their weekly mentoring check in
Please be on the lookout for your conference invitation(s). Please respond as soon as possible as the time slots are first come first served. We look forward to a great opportunity to conference next week.
