Daily Admin Update
Day 73
Good Morning,
You may have heard that some districts are beginning to announce plans. LA Unified announced theirs yesterday, some aspects were:
- Staggered school schedules
- Sixteen children per classroom
- Face mask wearing at all times
- Lunches at classroom desks
- One-direction hallways
- Some classes outdoors
We are still waiting on public health mandates as well as San Diego County of Education recommendations. They should be coming out any day now and we will use those to guide our individual plan for SDCCS. The quote from Eric Premac below summarizes where Charters are perfectly,
"As the wild and crazy ride that was the 2019-2020 school year winds down, charter school administrators and governing boards need to make difficult decisions regarding the upcoming school year with little or no constructive guidance from state or federal officials and no promised additional flexibility relative to complex and restrictive state and federal laws. With strong prospects for additional waves of COVID-19 infections, schools will need to prepare for a full range of contingencies, varying stakeholder opinions, tightening budgets, and other contingencies."
As always we will keep you updated.
I hope that you have a lovely Friday, I so wish we could be spending it together at school.
Warmly,
Sarah

Counseling Information and Virtual Support
I hope that this email / letter finds you and yours well. It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is upon us. I know that for many of us, this has been a long two months of distance learning and summer vacation is a welcome relief. For others, the summer break brings about new challenges and stressors, such as trying to navigate going back to work while finding safe and affordable childcare, or possibly, job or food security challenges.
The reality for all parents is that there are less activity options available, or recommended, which means that the new challenge may be how to keep your child active and engaged this summer. You may also notice that your child may be displaying some unexpected behaviors due to stress and fatigue in response to all of our current unknowns.
The Counseling Team at SDCCS would like to do what we can to support you during this new phase of the Pandemic. We would like to invite you to an online Zoom meeting on June 3, 2020 at 4 pm to provide a space to express your concerns and questions. During this time we will also share some of the ways that we would like to continue to support you and your family this summer. From resources available in the community to self care care and your child’s continued emotional well being. In addition, we have asked our Specials team to join with some go to activities to refer to on those days that may seem endless.
Your families are important to us and we want you to know that we will do our best to continue to assist in meeting the needs of our community during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
The Counseling Team

Food Assistance for Families
Food Assistance for Families
While campuses are closed due to COVID-19, families with students who were receiving free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch at school can get up to $365 per child for groceries this summer. This federal nutrition benefit is called Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) and is available for families in addition to continued grab-and-go meal services at many school sites in San Diego County.
Families of students who received free or reduced-price school meals and did not receive a P-EBT card in the mail by May 25 must apply online before June 30 to get their card. Charters may use this Pandemic EBT Outreach Toolkit to bring awareness about this new COVID-19 response initiative to families whose children are eligible for free and reduced-price school meals.
