A Look at Our Week
We began a new unit last week in Math focusing on 3-D shapes. We went on a Shape Hunt around the classroom, and they found more 3-D shapes than I knew existed in our room! We continue to practice our rote counting up to 100 by 1's and 10's. I am so excited for the 100th Day of School, we have been preparing for this day since the first day of Kindergarten!
We will begin serving breakfast in the classroom this week at 7:40. It is important that all children start the day with food in their stomach. You need to return the form sent home twice over the past 2 weeks specifying if your child may/may not eat breakfast at school. If you do not want your child to eat breakfast at school, please indicate that on the form, so that I can confidently refuse them food, and your account is not charged. This is a new initiative to Claxton, so be patient with us as we iron out any kinks!
Gong Hey Fat Choy!! That means "Happy New Year" in Cantonese. This week we will be learning about Chinese New Year, and how it is celebrated in China and across the globe. This is another one of my favorite topics as I lived in Hong Kong during my childhood, and grew up celebrating the Lunar New Year annually. We will be writing down what we learn about the festival during Writing Workshop, and making fireworks using paint and dish brushes during Choice Time!
