What's Heating Up at Holy Spirit
November 2-6
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. - Proverbs 30:5-
Sunday, November 1st All Saints Day
Gospel Reading: Matthew 5:2-12: The Beatitudes
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of
evil against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.
The Beatitudes can be understood as a framework for Christian living. Because of this, it is natural that we proclaim this Gospel on the Feast of All Saints. Saints are people who lived the spirit of the Beatitudes as Jesus lived. On this day, we too are challenged to model our lives on the spirit and promises of the Beatitudes.
Principal's Message
Evidence of Learning
Your child(ren) will be asking to share their Evidence of Learning Portfolios with you. The portfolios may be in paper or electronic format. Teachers and students work together to build the, “evidence of learning” that can be used as a springboard for meaningful conversations at home and then at 3-Way Conferences. The student work samples are to help initiate conversations about your child's learning at this point in the school year. Please ask your child(ren) to explain what they have learned, what they still need to focus on and learn, and how they can work towards a learning goal. Research shows that "involving parents in talking about their (child's) learning-increases their (child's) level of achievement" (Anne Davies, Making Classroom Assessment Work, 2007).
Virtual 3-Way Conferences
On November 3 and 5, families are invited with their children to meet with their teachers to discuss the child's learning. Your child's teacher will be sharing a Google Meet link with you to connect virtually. This is an important time for all stakeholders to meet and share what the children have learned, areas of challenges, and plan for next steps.
Thank you for your involvement in your child's learning as we understand parents are children's first teacher and student learning is a shared commitment between home and school. As educators we feel blessed that you entrust your greatest gift to us everyday.
Blessings,
Mrs. Aoife Cahill

Parent Council Fundraiser
Oh Covid.... so normally Holy Spirit’s Parent Council raises its largest of portion of money from our Hot Lunch program as well as events such as Silverbells or the Waterpark. This year we still wanted to find a way to raise funds which are used to support our school. We have decided to partner with Tickled Floral to fundraise selling the ever so popular Whoville Trees for this upcoming holiday season!
We ask that you reach out to family and friends and submit your orders on the hot lunch website through your child’s account (details on how to do this will follow). Please submit your order before the deadline of November 15th. Orders will be ready for pick up on Nov 30th. Please note that YOU are responsible for picking up your orders from Tickled Floral directly…more information will be sent out later regarding pick up times.
If you have an account from ordering hot lunch you can use that log in information. If you are new to the school or do not have an account, please follow the instructions below on how to create an account.
Thank you so much for supporting our School's Parent Council!
