Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Even though we started the year in remote learning, it is still important for every family to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch Application even if they think they do not qualify. Applications are available at and only take about 10 minutes to complete. If you applied last year, click ‘Login’ to enter the site and apply again for the 2020-21 school year. If you are applying for the first time, click ‘Register’.

Families who require assistance completing the application may contact the Nutrition Services Department at 303-343-0295 or Ms. Prado and Ms. Cordero at 303-691-2384.

Update from Ms. Porter, RN

Hello VCS families!

Just a reminder from your school health office nurse Ms. Porter, if your student will be needing medication at school I will need an updated medication form filled out by your child's provider and signed by a parent/guardian as well. Every new school year your child will need a brand new updated medication form to be filled out. All medications must be properly labeled and bottled to be accepted for school use. All forms can be faxed to VCS at 303.226.5529 attn Ms. Porter or dropped off directly at VCS.

In-Person Learning

In-person learning through the hybrid model starts October 19th for 1st - 8th grades. Cohort A will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays starting at 7:50. Cohort B will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting at 7:50 am. Our doors will open at 7:30. Students will need to bring their materials including a water bottle and charged Chromebooks with them daily.

Masks and Social Distancing

While in-person students will need to wear their masks. This means that the mask will need to be covering their nose and mouth at all times during the school day, with the exception of meals. Students will need to remain in their designated area at least 6 feet from other students and staff. Finally, students will not be allowed to share materials. There will a no tolerance policy regarding these expectations as safety is our top priority.

We will be using the PikMyKid app for dismissal this year. Please use the information below to sign up. If you can't get the app please be sure you place your child's car tag in the window with the three digit code so that we may enter it.

The inside carline is now designated for 5-8 students. After 5-8 students exit their cars they will go to the far right of the building and enter by the field. There they will have their temperatures checked before heading upstairs to class.

The outside carline is now designated for k-4 students. K-4 students will enter through the front door, where they will have their temperatures checked prior to going to class.

October Core Virtues

Attendance in every class every day is essential for your child's academic growth. In the event that your child cannot be in class, make sure to call the front desk at 303-691-2384. You will receive an automated phone call in the evening if your child was absent from any classes throughout the day if you do not call in to notify us of the absence. You may email teachers to get make up work, but call the front desk, as well.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be remote this year. We will send out a sign up sheet in the next Hawk's Nest. Conferences are November 19, 2020.
