Hayes Weekly Update
January 30th - February 2nd
A Message from Mrs. Seybolt
We have been working in PLC meetings to turn our standards into learning targets. Please make sure these are posted in your room and relevant to what you are teaching. The reason for having these posted is to help students with meta-cognition. They need to be thinking about their own thinking and learning. If the goal is written for them we can coach them to monitor their own learning. How powerful will it be when students are able to say the need extra help with specific learning targets?
One of the most powerful tools for teaching is small group instruction. Small group instruction must happen everyday. This is a good time of year to look at your small group instruction area in your classroom and make sure it has what it needs to support learning. Do you need anything to help your small group instruction run more smoothly? Do you need specific supplies? I am happy to help, please come see me or send an email.
Ms. Maci Majors will be starting her position as our new 6th grade ELA/Social Studies teacher on Monday! Ms. Majors is going to be a great fit for our 6th graders. She has met the 6th graders and observed in the classroom with Ms. Freire (aka superhero Freire- see the shout out section) this past week. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Ms. Majors. I am excited to have her as part of our Hayes family!
Our smallest cardinals will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Monday. There will be a 100th day parade at 9:30. There will be a reading assembly Friday, February 2nd in the gym directly after the pledges and moment of silence. Please remember to leave room for Pre-K and Kinder in the gym that morning.
As always, if you need anything please let me know.
We are Cardinal RED,
Michelle Seybolt
