Patriots Helping Patriots

With the intent of helping Mittelstadt families that were effected by Hurricane Harvey, Mittelstadt's third grade teacher Katherine Fox, set up a Sign up Genius page called, "Helping Hands for Patriot Land".

With the generosity of our teachers, friends, Patriot families, and community members she was able to collect over $8,700.00.

Mrs. Fox, along with our counselor Mrs. Dumas, will be able to help our families with gift cards to restaurants, home improvement & grocery stores.

A note from Ms. Levy

Dear Parents:

We have had a great start to our year! It was nice to see so many of you at our Fall Open House. You had the opportunity to hear about all the fun learning your child will have this year as well as expectations and goals set for the year. October 13th is our Teacher/Parent/Student Conference Day. If you did not sign up for a scheduled meeting time when you were at Open House please be sure to get with your child’s teacher to schedule. We encourage you to make an appointment and bring your child to the conference. If your child is in Grades 2-5 they have set individual goals (a behavior and academic goal) and we want them to share those goals with you on October 13th. We operate as a team here at Mittelstädt. This team approach of teacher, student, and parent leads to your child’s educational success!

Parent Power

· Spend a few minutes every evening looking over homework/handouts your child brings home.

· Tell your child’s teacher if you can help them out at school or home.

· Make sure teachers know you appreciate their efforts. From time to time, send a thank-you note or an email.

· Contact your child’s teacher immediately if you see a problem. Working together will help your child succeed.

· Attend conferences, parent meetings, and school events regularly.

· Check and sign your child’s Tuesday folder

· Check your email for the electronic message and school info sent out each Tuesday

Storybook Character Parade

Our storybook parade was a big success. The Klein High band provided the sounds and spirit as we marched outdoors and ended with a school-wide celebration in the cafeteria. Check out the Mittelstadt website for more photos! Use the link below to access a short video of the parade!

Box Tops for Education

Hello Patriot Families!

It is almost time for our first Box Tops shipment. The deadline is November 1st. I will need to come and pick up all the box tops from the school on Friday, October 27th. So, begin bringing in all the box tops you have at home so they can be counted toward this shipment. Lets reach our goal!

The MAILBOX is in the front hall of the school for the box tops collection. When you put your box top collection in the mailbox make sure you label the bag or envelope with the grade your child is in so it can count for their grade level. If not it will go toward miscellaneous and not a grade level. The grade with the most brought in will receive a treat!

There are containers in each grade hallway that you can put the box tops in, as well. It should be easy to spot because it will say box tops & your grade level on it.

For more information on Box Tops, including a list of participating products, go to Be sure to sign up as a member (it’s free!) so you can check out our school’s earnings details and get access to coupons and bonus offers. Download the Box Top Bonus App to help our school as well.

Mittelstadt Basketball Team

Mittelstadt is offering a Basketball Clinic for 4th and 5th grade boys. Clinics for 4th grade boys will be held on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00 pm. Clinics for 5th grade boys will be held on Fridays from 4:00-5:00 pm. Parents are responsible for transportation after clinics. Clinics will begin on October 10th for 4th grade and October 13th for 5th grade and continue through the months of November and December.

During clinics we will focus on physical conditioning, importance of teamwork, basketball techniques, such as dribbling, shooting, defensive posture, and their understanding of the game. The goal is to establish disciplines both in the classroom and in the competition arena.

In order for this program’s success, we desire parental involvement. More details will be supplied as we prepare for the spring basketball league. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Casserly at

Custody Issues

Use of Wireless Devices While Operating a Motor Vehicle

The Texas Transportation Code currently prohibits the use of a wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle within a school crossing zone. The Legislature has added a new offense to the Transportation Code that prohibits the use of a wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle on any school property with a crossing zone and while the reduced speed limit is in effect, unless the vehicle is stopped or the driver is using a hands-free device, or there is a specified emergency. This offense was added to address the problems of individuals using wireless devices while driving through school parking lots or driving lanes. This new legislation permits Klein ISD police officers to stop and cite individuals operating a motor vehicle on a school parking lot provided the vehicle is in motion at the time of the offense. This provision is in addition to the existing law enabling officers to cite drivers within a school crossing zone.
