Week-At-A-Glance
The Weekly Update for NPHS Staff, Apr 20 - Apr 24, 2020
Break Up
Hello Patriot Staff,
In my Patriot Premier newsletter to parents and students this week, I wrote about putting on break up boots and walking through puddles as part of a seasonal Alaskan tradition. However, what I didn't say is HOW to do it (that's a trade secret, privy only to the most elite staff in the district). Well, I guess it's time to share that secret with you. So when you decide to go Alaskan-Spring-Puddle-Stompin in your break up boots, real Alaskan's do it this way: click here only if you can keep a secret.
Take care of yourself and your family,
John
Information You Should Know:
• Teacher Classroom Checkout: As you know by now, over the weeks of April 20th and April 27th, we are conducting the teacher classroom checkout procedure. If you're a teacher and haven't signed up to come into the building yet to do this, click this LINK to do this. Also, here is what you need to know about classroom checkout. The check off sheet is here. Note: Turn in required SPED materials to the front office, and ignore the "Counseling" box for now...we will create a separate process for S2 grade finalization in early May. Remember to maintain social distancing and wear a cloth face mask around people when you come to the school building. Also, only staff are allowed in the building (no non-staff family members).
• FFA Flower Baskets: $50/basket. They're beautiful and they're going fast. Contact Marianna if you want her to reserve one for you. Remember, check or exact change only...pay her when you come to the building, and take your flower basket home.
• The weekly building onsite manifest is here. We are maintaining a maximum of 10 personnel in the building at all times. All staff planning to come to the building should check the manifest first as it is updated on a weekly basis. You are not allowed in the building unless your name is on the manifest, or you receive permission from the administration.
• Virtual Prom: Yes, you should participate. Post a picture of you in your prom attire and tag it #nphsprom2020 or email a photo to elizabeth.beks@k12northstar.org prior to April 22nd. She'll put together a Prom 2020 collage and share it on our NPHS FB page!
• Student Locker Cleanout: Students/families are signing up here to come to the school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to get their stuff.
• Textbook & Chromebook Collection: This begins the week of April 27th for students and families...plan accordingly...thanks.
• Yearbook Distribution: The yearbooks have arrived. We will begin distribution on May 4th. Sign up to get yours here.
• Senior Class Graduation: The ceremony is scheduled for 7 pm on Thursday, May 14th. The graduation committee is working on the details...at this time it is looking like a virtual ceremony. We should be able to provide comprehensive details in next week's newsletter.
• New Administration at NPHS for next year: Principal - Graham Storey, Assistant Principals - Michelle Spillane and Henry Burns. You will be hearing more from them as time goes on; please welcome them.
