Burj al Arab
A Seven Star Hotel
The Burj al Arab, a 7-star hotel, is the tallest of all hotels in the world. Featuring many resturaunts, luxurious rooms, and the world's highest tennis court, this hotel has it all. The building itself reaches 689 feet tall, with the spire, it comes out to a total of 1,053 feet. This great work of art is located off the coast of Dubai, Jumeirah and sits on an island in the ocean. Architect Tom Wright and interior design artist Khuan Chew designed and led the construction of the building between 1994 and 1999. As of today, this hotel is said to be the most glorious and expensive hotel to be created in the world.
The Burj al Arab is very beautiful and luxurious. It is a really tall structure that takes the shape of a boat's sail. The interior has 60 floors of astonishing color and design done by Khuan Chew —The interior designer of the hotel— and 202 very luxurious and elegant rooms. This hotel features the world's highest tennis court that doubles as a landing pad for helicopters. This glorious hotel was given a seven star tag for its glamour, luxury, and outstanding service.
The Burj al Arab is a very important structure for Dubai. This building majorly affected world history by becoming, at its time, the tallest building in the world. It also affected how Dubai was represented since they wanted to have a structure, like the Statue of Liberty, that says, "This is who Dubai is." The hotel is also important due to its location; being that it isn't regular to see a hotel in the ocean on a man-made island. The hotel also has the record of the most luxurious hotel in the world; even through there are many competitors racing to take the trophy out of their hands.
The long time and skill it took to build the Burj al Arab really paid off when Dubai had created one of the most iconic structures in world history. This building is one of the most expensive and luxurious hotels ever to be made and still holds it's great reputation all around the world. After completion, critics described it as, "A contridiction of sorts, considering how well-designed and impressive the construction ultimately proves to be." They also stated that, "This extraordinary investment in state-of-the-art construction technology stretches the limits of the ambitious urban imagination in an exercise that is largely due to the power of excessive wealth."
