Curriculum Update
Math: The students spent a lot of time working with regrouping for addition and subtraction. This next chapter focuses on using bar models to help with addition and subtraction problems. The math newsletter will go home Wednesday. Please refer to it for vocabulary and strategies used. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send an email or write a note.
Writing: This unit we work work on creating a non-fiction book highlighting the use of text and graphic features. The book will be about themselves. The students will need a few pictures from home that they can use in their book. If you have any magazines, we could use those as well.
Social Studies: We have been looking at government at the city/town, state, and country level. We discussed how leaders are chosen today as well as how they were chosen in the past. The students discussed symbols of America and the Constitution.
Language Arts: Journeys lesson 7 looks at Drawing Conclusions and Analyzing/Evaluating while reading. The newsletter sent home on Monday has all of the vocabulary and spelling words that we will focus on this week.
