DPM Newsletter - October 7
Friday, October 7, 2022
Dear DPM Families,
This week we had our first two visits with Paw for Patrick. Our 5th, 7th, and 8th grade students were given the opportunity to meet the dogs during their homeroom times. Our 6th grade students will be rescheduled to meet the dogs this coming Tuesday, October 11th, due to the dog’s unexpected departure on Tuesday. Additional visits will be scheduled in November!
Thank you to the APT, with special mention of Ann Kiesling and Monica Yaun, for organizing this opportunity for our students!!!
Enjoy the long weekend!
Sincerely,
Megan Eigenrauch, 5/6 Principal
Sam Paulsen, 7/8 Principal
Halloween Celebrations
On Monday, October 31st, we will celebrate Halloween with homeroom parties as well as students being allowed to wear costumes. With this in mind, we are asking and expecting that the dress code be followed. If it is not followed, parents will be contacted to bring alternative clothing for their child.
Students may only apply make-up, color their hair, or put on costumes at home. Parents should have full knowledge of what their child will wear to school.
Students are not permitted to wear masks.
Students should respect political and/or religious beliefs.
Students should not wear anything that has a sexual connotation or would be considered inappropriate dress.
Costumes that promote graphic violence are not allowed (i.e. blood, gore, etc).
Students should not use costume props of a violent nature, such as toy guns, toy knives, and/or swords, etc.
Picture Retake/Make Up Day 10/12
This is a final chance to take a school portrait and appear in this year’s yearbook/composite.
Before Retake Day, view your student photos online, and select which image you want to appear in this year’s yearbook/composite, by clicking the link that was emailed to you by "Visual Image Photography", or by going to vipis.com to search for your photos.
If you attend retake day be sure to return to the same gallery about a week after retakes to view your new photos and reselect your yearbook image.
All yearbook image selections must be made within two weeks after Retake Day or VIP will choose one for you.
If you cannot find your images or have any questions, please contact VIP at support@vipis.com with your student information.

The Great Full Market
School Districts 65, 67, and 115 will co-host the second annual Great Full Market with Beacon Place and Quest Food Management Services on Sunday, October 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Great Full Market is a free farmers market and family festival for residents of Waukegan. The event will take place on the grounds of Beacon Place located at 603 S. McAlister Ave. in Waukegan.
Hosted this year on World Food Day, the event provides members of the Waukegan community the opportunity to pick up fresh produce, dry goods such as beans and rice, and other pantry items, all at no cost. Families can also enjoy hot chocolate, churros, and activities including soccer, Lotería, face painting, and crafts led by Lake Forest and Lake Bluff students.
Volunteer for the Great Full Market
We are looking for adult volunteers to set up and assist families during the market, and students who are excited about playing soccer, handing out hot chocolate, assisting with the market activities, and facilitating Loteria with kids while their parents shop. We expect there to be about 200 families present with about 500 individuals being served on that day.
Please review the available slots on this form, and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Paws for Patrick Dogs at DPM
The APT hosted its first session with the comfort dogs from Paws for Patrick. The kids loved taking a break from their day to spend some time with these lovable animals!
There was a slight hiccup with the scheduling of the dogs this week and unfortunately, the 6th graders missed out. But don’t fret! They will get a do-over just for them next Tuesday.
The dogs will be back again in November so if your child’s homeroom class didn’t get their turn yet, they will soon!
This is for NEW participants only. For those looking to add their children to the Paws for Patrick opportunity, please click here to be added to the list and sign the waiver for next month’s visits. If you have already signed up, you do not need to complete the waiver again.

We feel immensely grateful to all of our guests and raffle participants, to all of our partners, sponsors, food providers, florists and interior designers who made the day a success, to the musicians who set the cheerful mood, to every volunteer (there were more than 80!) for generously sharing their time and talent, to our district administration that supported, greeted, and shuttled throughout the day, to our Spirit of 67 Board for their diligent work in attending to every detail, to Courtney Turner, her Special Events team and Home Tour Committee who worked all summer long to make it all possible and especially to our generous homeowners for graciously welcoming us to their homes to help us raise funds for our students!
The amount of funds raised is still under review, but all funds raised by the Spirit of 67 are re-invested in our students’ via curriculum-aligned grants that enhance their overall experience in District 67!
In fact, one grant will be enjoyed next week when beloved New York Times bestselling author, Aaron Reynolds visits Cherokee (Monday), Everett (Tuesday) and Sheridan (Wednesday).
