Romanticism to Realism
AP Art History
Art for a Modern Era
The Modern Era begins with the Industrial Revolution in the late eighteenth century. The world was changing rapidly and some artists wanted their work to be about their contemporary environment—about themselves and their own perceptions of life. In short, they believed that the modern era deserved to have a modern art. This week we cover Realism and Early Photography. During Spring Break you will explore Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.
Check out the film below to see how art moves from Romanticism -> Realism -> Impressionism ->Post-Impressionism.
