9/18 Young School Newsletter
Dear Young Families,
Thank you for another great week. Young students, parents, and staff are establishing a good, solid daily routine for remote learning. Thank you to our parents and extended family members for all that you are doing to support your children in learning from home each day. We couldn't do it without you.
Zoom Links
Please make sure to read your weekly newsletter from your classroom teacher. All zoom links have been updated. Your child's google classroom will also contain updated zoom links.
LMC
- The Young LMC will continue to place books outside of the building for families to pick up each day from 8:00 am - 4:15 pm.
- In addition, families can bring back and drop of library books that they have finished reading and textbooks from last school year.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Ms. Morgan
Young Staff are celebrating your students and all of their hard work as we complete our 10th day of learning remotely.
- Kindergarten teachers are thrilled that kindergarten students are developing their technical skills as they move through their slides, click on the links to do their activities and follow directions during class.
- First grade is excited about what a wonderful job first grade students are doing attending their Zoom classes each day, completing their assignments through the links on their slides, and following their class schedule.
- Second grade teachers are impressed that second grade students are coming to class on time with smiling faces, ready to learn.
- Third grade is happy to see third graders being good digital citizens who are respectful and responsible during zoom sessions as they use their chat box to share ideas and participate in class.
- Fourth grade teachers are proud of the respectful and appropriate way that Young students are collaborating together in the small group breakout rooms.
- Fifth grade is pleased that fifth grade students are being responsible in following their schedule, completing their work and treating their classmates with respect.
- RISE Teachers are elated about how well RISE students are doing as they participate in Zoom with their classmates and teachers.
Chromebooks and Zoom
As a part of our security measures with Zoom, we are requiring that Young students use their district assigned chromebook for Zoom lessons and meetings with their teachers. Having students use their chromebooks helps teachers to easily identify the names of students who should be in the classroom.
If teachers do not recognize the name that comes up on the screen, the teacher will not admit the person into the classroom. Starting on Monday, September 21 students must use their district assigned chromebook for Zoom lessons.
If your child is not using his/her chromebook due to technical issues, please contact the office to let us know. We will direct you to Mrs. Ranucci (blaire_ranucci@ipsd.org) who will troubleshoot technical difficulties with you.
Monday Afternoon
Monday, September 21 will be our first Monday of student attendance for the school year. Please remember that on Mondays, school dismisses at 1:00 pm for all students.
The afternoon time on Mondays is not structured and teachers will not assign any additional work. We have provided a list of activities that parents can provide for their students if they choose. Because of the amount of technology used during the rest of the week the list includes all "no screen time" options. Monday Afternoon Ideas
Families may add their own ideas. These activities will not be submitted to the classroom teacher. If families are interested, they can access Dreambox, Lexia and other software that students use during remote learning.
Teachers will be using this valuable time for professional development and team collaboration so they can best meet the needs of their students.
