Jackson Elementary's Mission and Vision
The Jackson staff, in partnership with the community, will prepare students for a better tomorrow by
- Using AVID strategies that support individual perseverance and academic success
- Engaging students in opportunities to collaborate and take ownership of their own learning
- Participating in goal setting, data-driven discussions, and focused instruction
- Creating an environment that fosters trust, encouragement, and positive relationships
Principally Speaking
Dear Parents/Guardians,
2018 has truly been a wonderful year and we hope that 2019 is even better for you and your family! Welcome to all of our new families and students. Jackson is a great place to be and we are thrilled you are here joining our community.
I would like to personally thank you for your support of the Jackson’s fall Spirit Cups Fundraiser. I realize it did not run as smoothly as we would have liked, but your patience and understanding made it more manageable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contribution to Jackson Elementary. Your generosity has given our students the opportunity to have more valuable experiences here at school (ie. Field trips, technology, STEM day, etc.).
The holiday season is definitely upon us and so is the cold! Please remind your children to wear their coats every day to school and to bring them home at the end of the day. Our Lost and Found is growing, so if you think your child is missing an article of clothing, please have them check the Lost and Found! We will set out tables of Lost and Found articles before Winter Break. If your child(ren) is/are missing clothing items, please encourage them to search the tables before the weather gets any colder.
Now that we are halfway through the school year, I wanted to thank you for helping to ensure the success of your student, by bringing them every day to school on time. I am sure you have noticed that we have high expectations for our students behaviorally and academically. It is very important that your child be on time to school every day. Jackson staff start instruction at 8:00am so even a few minutes late causes students to miss instruction.
This year’s Winter Break will be from Thursday, December 20, 2018-January 4, 2019. We hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season. We will see you back here on January 7, 2019.
I would like to thank you again for your continued support of the Jackson Elementary staff and community. If you ever have any questions, please call the front office at (719) 328-5800.
Thank you,

Media Center Moments
Book Fair
We had a great time at the Enchanted Forest Book Fair! It is always fun to see the excitement the books create with our students. Thanks to our supportive Jackson community, we were able to raise money to purchase books for the Media Center. Based on our book fair, the Jackson community walked away with approximately 603 books, which equates to 108,609 independent reading minutes!
We hope your students discovered some new books and Let Your Imagination Grow!
Free Book Giveaway at Winter Break
A big thanks to the Jackson Parent Boosters who are supplying the funds to purchase a new book for every student at Jackson. The kids will receive their new book before the Winter Break. READ ON!

A big thank you goes to Mrs. Merrifield and Ms. Robbie who have shared some of their favorite children’s books in the Staff Picks display case. Be sure and check them out the next time you are visiting Jackson!
Free Office 365 Online
Every student has an Office 365 account and included with this account is five free Office 365 Online downloads that can be used on any home computer. Office 365 includes Word Online, Excel Online, and PowerPoint Online. The only drawback is that Office 365 Online will not be available if your child leaves Colorado Springs School District 11.
