Buniewicz Classroom News - 4/5
Mr. Buniewicz's 5th and 6th Grade Newsletter
Welcome back from break everyone! We had such a good, positive, and productive week back from school. I apologize in advance for the wordy newsletter; there is a lot to cover coming back from break!
Work Folders went home today with missing work and redos that students must complete. As you'll notice, we replaced last quarter's grade sheets with new ones - a fresh start! Be aware that many of the papers students got back are from the previous marking period and cannot be redone for a better grade. Please ask your student to take a close look at the folder so they can address any work that needs to be addressed!
Week in Review - 5th Grade
In Social Studies, we have started working on economics. We have discussed scarcity, supply, demand, and economic systems. We will continue this over the course of the following weeks.
Before break, the 5th grade researched regions of the United States. After the research was completed, they compiled their findings with a map of the United States that they created. The final map is on display in the room!
Week in Review - 6th Grade
In Social Studies, we have continued to discuss the economy. Specifically, we have looked at GDP, GDP per capita, and development. We discussed what it means to be a developed country, and what GDP does and does not show. A special thanks to Shannon for taking over Social Studies on Monday and teaching us about Kazakhstan!
Before the break, 6th grade played a Polish game that simulated shopping for good In Poland during the communist rule there in the 1970s and 1980s. To add to the experience, we listened to Polish disco polo. Fun was had by all!
