FSC Principal's Update

January 28, 2022

Finneytown Families,

Monday night the boys basketball team had a tribute for Alex Harris. Thanks to all who came to the game. It was a special evening that many had a hand in making happen.

Remember, if you know anyone looking to sub, have them reach out to me. It is cold and flu season along with Covid so we are always in need of subs. Our teachers are working extremely hard in their own classes as well as stepping in for colleagues when they are out and we don't have enough substitutes. If we get more subs, this will happen less frequently.

I will include state testing information in next week's newsletter. Please be on the lookout since this impacts start times for certain students on those days.

If you have any questions, please reach out.

Staff Spotlight (Cathy Counts)

My name is Cathy Counts and I am a school counselor for students who are in the Clark and Pringle Houses, grades 8-12. This is my 30th year working as a school counselor, and the last 25 have been with Finneytown Schools. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education, from the University of Missouri. Shortly after, I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Counseling from Xavier University and then went into a Doctoral program, in Counseling, at the University of Cincinnati. During this time, I was working in private practice and taught at Xavier. This was a very busy time in my life, as my husband and I also had three children.

As parents, we encouraged our children to pursue their passions. As such, our oldest earned her Master’s of Divinity degree and she taught at St. Ursula Academy. She and her husband now have two children, with whom we are happy to spend time together. Our son earned his Doctorate in Physics and he and his wife work at Washington University in St. Louis. Our youngest daughter earned her Bachelor’s degree in English, and while in college, learned how much she loved to dance. She is now a professional ballroom dancer and teacher, owns her own business and travels often.

In my spare time, I love to hang out with my husband, Tom. I also love to swim (I swam competitively for 17 years!), take walks, hang out with our 3 amazing rescue dogs, and visit with family and friends. I also enjoy traveling and had the opportunity to go to Greece several years ago, to meet our extended family, for the first time.

It has been an honor to work with the Finneytown Schools. I have learned so much from students, families and staff and am deeply grateful to serve this community.
