Important Office News
Change of Transportation
Starting Monday, January 12, 2015, a written note, or email to the office to tjaggars@nisdtx.org, must be completed and signed in the front office or sent to your child's homeroom teacher in order for us to change your child's usual afternoon transportation home. Our goal is to assure that every child makes it home safely every day.
Morning Arrivals
If your child is being driven to school in the morning, please do not drop off in the front. The front circle is for bus and daycare drop-off only. Our front parking lot is reserved for parents who wish to walk their child to class or volunteer at school. Drop offs are in the back of the building in the designated area by the dining room. For safety purposes, children should never be in the front parking lot unaccompanied by an adult. Everyone must use crosswalks. Please use caution when backing out of your parking spot.
Afternoon Dismissal
Due to the growth that our school is experiencing we are working to improve our current dismissal system. For safety purposes, only walkers, bike riders, bus riders and day care will exit the front of the school at 2:45. ALL car riders must exit through the back of the school. Please do not pull through the front drive to pick up your child in the afternoon or park in the no parking zone. Your patience is greatly appreciated while we work this through to implement the best possible system to ensure the safety of your child.
Absences
If your child(ren) is absent, please report the absence to the front office of Clara Love Elementary by calling 817-698-6600 or by reporting the absence via email to metchieson@nisdtx.org. Once the student returns to school, please bring in a signed note from a parent, or a doctor's signed note excusing the absence. Thank you.
Tardies
Doors open at 7:15 A.M. Students must be in their classroom seats by 7:45 A.M. or they will be considered tardy. Please have your child here by 7:20 if they are eating breakfast in the cafeteria so they can get to class on time.
Clinic
If your child is sick with fever, flu-like illness, or other contagious conditions, please make arrangements to keep your child at home to avoid spreading the illness to others. Encourage frequent hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes.
Thank you for your help in following these procedures so we can provide a safe environment for all children!

Think Through Math
Think Through Math is a web based math program that has been provided by the state. It’s an additional math resource that your child can access from any computer with an internet connection. Students will take an initial placement test and then a specific pathway of lessons is created based on your child’s specific needs.
All 5th grade students have a goal of completing 1 to 2 lessons per week. As the students complete lessons we can earn points that we can use to get a class pizza party, ice cream party, or even a charitable donation in the name of our class.
There is an audio component to this program so I asked students to bring their own ear buds or headphones to use.
Northwest Reads
Northwest Reads is Friday, January 23rd from 9-10 a.m. and Clara Love Elementary is in need of volunteer readers to fill each of our 33 classrooms. If you are interested in reading an age-appropriate book(s) for 20-30 minutes to one of our PK-5th grade classes, please visit the following link to sign up: www.nisdtx.org/northwestreads Our librarian, Ms. Kosek, would be glad to loan you a book(s) for the event if you do not have a personal favorite.
