DRESS FOR THE WINTER WEATHER
During the winter months we are committed to ensuring that our students have the opportunity for outdoor recess whenever possible, but we first make sure all students are safe from severe weather conditions. Please make sure your child comes to school with a winter coat, hat, and gloves/mittens. This includes all students. All students are required to go outside for recess unless indoor recess has been communicated. If you are having difficulty obtaining cold weather clothing please reach out to the school. We are here to help. MORE INFORMATION ON RECESS
Students who are dropped off in the morning, should not be dropped off until 7:50 a.m. which is the time students may enter the building. MORE INFORMATION ON PICK-UP/DROP-OFF

REGIONAL MATH MEET

5th & 6th GR won 1st Place in the Regional Math Meet
2nd Place
7th & 8th GR earned 2nd Place in the Regional Math Meet
GREAT JOB LAKE COUNTRY SCHOOL STUDENTS!
The Math Meet provides an opportunity to challenge talented math students. The event, patterned after MathCounts, is sponsored by the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network. The one-day math meet seeks to do the following:
Stimulate interest in mathematics
Recognize exceptional mathematical talent
Provide a healthy academic environment
Support the Wisconsin’s Academic Standards in Mathematics as well as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Standards
Math meet team members earned a place on the team via their performance on a math-screening test, standardized math achievement tests (i.e. Measures of Academic Progress, Forward Exam, Aspire, pre-ACT) and/or classroom-based math assessments (i.e. Math Olympiads).
Our students recently competed against teams with similar enrollment size from south central/eastern Wisconsin.
Our 5th/6th grade team won 1st place and our 7th/8th grade team earned 2nd place at the Regional Math Meet!
Fifth & sixth grade team members include: Sarika Chinta, Cooper Majszak, Ari Peters, Westley Rogers, Samuel Bukovich, Lauren Filipek, Naomi Lindmark, Erik Zhang.
Seventh & eighth grade team members are: Evan Brammeier-Zayas, Maddie Groubert, Ashley Kozik, Lukas Lowe, Olen Albrecht, Harper Karbassi, Riley Kozik, Sami Wall.
Individual recognition, based on student performance in the first four Math Meet events, was earned by:
sixth grader Eric Zhang - 1st place
seventh grader Evan Brammeier-Zayas - 2nd place
eighth grader Olen Albrecht - 1st place
Both teams look forward to advancing to the Mega Math Meet in Madison at the end of May. Congratulations students on your fine problem solving efforts!
MATH ACCELERATION
Tuesday, February 21, is the deadline for a parent/guardian, teacher or other school district professional to request acceleration (grade skipping) in math by notifying Mrs. Schneider, the gifted and talented coordinator, in writing. Current kindergarten through sixth grade students, who are highly capable AND high performing students, are eligible to apply. Note: Math acceleration is an appropriate programming option for approximately 1-3% of the student population. Previously placed students do not need to reapply. Included with this written notification should be a rationale for why this is appropriate for the child. Once notification is received, a rigorous review process begins that incorporates data from student performance, standardized test results and teacher observation. Lake Country School’s math acceleration committee will review the data before the end of this school year for 2023-2024 math class placement. Parents who have questions regarding this process should contact their child’s math/classroom teacher(s) or Mrs. Schneider.

OPEN ENROLLMENT 2023-2024
The inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside. The regular open enrollment application period for the 2023-24 school year begins on February 6, 2023, and ends at 4:00 pm on April 28, 2023. The best way to apply is online, the online application is available at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment during the application period.
Once a pupil is attending a nonresident school district under open enrollment, the pupil may continue to attend that district without re-application. Lake Country School students do not need to re-apply for open enrollment until they are ready to attend Arrowhead High School or another school district.
INCOMING NEW 4 & 5 YEAR-OLDS
We are searching for ALL three and four year old future students in the Lake Country District. If you have, or are aware of a three or four year old in the district who will be 4 or 5 years old by September 1st, 2023, please have the parents contact Amy Adkins at adkinsa@mylakecountryschool.org or call (262) 367-3606 ext. 115. If you have children attending Lake Country School already, please don't assume we know about all younger siblings. We want to make sure we contact every eligible child before our Open House in March!
