Classroom Reminders

CLASSROOM BAND ATTIRE – DUE BY SEPTEMBER 3RD

We’ve been fitting for concert uniforms this week. All Freshmen and new students should have been fitted by now. Your student will be bringing home a form with sizes and ordering information.


All orders must be placed by Tuesday, September 3. See the sheet for ordering details.

Students who have concert attire, but wish to order replacement items can do so at https://www.roswellband.com. (See Store in the top menu.)


HONOR ENSEMBLES REGISTRATION – DUE BY SEPTEMBER 6TH

Registration forms are being accepted for the following:

In order to provide proper opportunities and instruction for all band classes, we charge a $250 fee to pay for music, materials, musicians, transportation to events, minor instrument repairs, etc. (Please note $10 of your fee goes to the high school.) Lost & Found

Your stuff misses you too! We will be cleaning out the Lost and Found closet at the end of each month. Please collect your belongings by the time you leave for the long weekend. We are donating all remaining items next week.

SYNCHING CHARMS TO YOUR PHONE

Did you know you can synch the band calendar to your phone? Charms is the database Roswell Band uses to handle the large job of managing the band members, uniforms, finances, volunteering and more. There is an App for Charms or you can go online. You can sync the Charms calendar with your phone so you always have the latest activities and deadlines.

Marching Band Reminders

NO HALL BAND this week.


FIRST FOOTBALL GAME, AUGUST 30

Our first game is an away game at Campbell High School on 8/30. All marching band students should report to the band room by 5:00 p.m. Bus sign up sheets will be posted this week.

Checklist for first game:

- Eat dinner prior to arriving

- Wear bibbers and black uniform shoes; wear snug fitting shorts underneath.

- Wear black socks that cover your calves; ankle socks are not permitted with uniform.

- Wear a white t-shirt; reapply deodorant.

- Bring water bottle already filled

- Cell phones are permitted at games.

- Bring money to purchase food at concession stand during 3rd Quarter.


Parents: please check your phone around 10:45 p.m. on the evening of August 30. Mr. Moon will text you to let you know our estimated arrival time back at the school. The band room will close 30 minutes after we arrive. Please be prompt when picking up your student after the game.

THIrD QUARTER MEALS

Roswell Band offers the option to order a meal for your student during the Third Quarter at home games. (We do not provide this option at away games.)


We have two options if you are interested:

Meal Plan for Football Home Games (5)

No more remembering to bring cash to the game. Students can go over to the Away Concessions stand during the Third Quarter and pick up their prepaid meals. All meals come with chips and a drink. There are five home games. No refunds or exchanges on this plan. This is the perfect plan for a one and done solution. Meal plans must be ordered by September 9th to receive all five meals.

Single Meal for Football Home Game (1)

This is to purchase only ONE meal for the upcoming home game. This must be ordered by the Thursday before the game by 10:00 p.m. Students can walk over to the AWAY Concessions Stand during the 3rd quarter and pick up their prepaid meals. All meals come with chips and a drink.

Fulton County Marching Band Exhibition Meals (FCMBEX)

If you would like to purchase a meal at Cambridge High School for the FCMBEX, please visit the https://www.roswellband.com/store/marching-band-store/ and select your option. Jason’s Deli boxed lunches will be catered. Please make your selection and pay by September 6.

8th Grade Night at RHS

On Friday, September 20th, band students from Elkins Pointe Middle, Crabapple Middle and High Meadows are invited to join us for a fun night of high school football and marching band. We will be offering 8th graders free pizza, beverages and t-shirts!

5:30 p.m. 8th graders eat dinner and hang out with Leadership and Seniors

6:15 p.m. 8th graders meet The Swarm and learn some new music

Dr. Chip Crotts Visit

We were excited to have Dr. Chip Crotts visit the students last weekend. A passionate educator, Chip is highly involved in the fields of music education and jazz, and stays active as a clinician and adjudicator for such organizations as Bands of America and Drum Corps International. Recent years has seen Chip teaching several of the top drum corps in the world, most notably, Phantom Regiment and Blue Devils, with which he won multiple world championships in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Jeep Raffle Update

Help sell tickets at a Jeep Raffle Ticket Selling Event on Saturday, September 7. We would love students to come play their instruments and help sell tickets. Location is pending and will be announced next week. (It will probably be the Farmers Market, The Dojo or Saturday Baseball at the Roswell Rec.

  • Tickets are easy sell! They are only $10 each. 100% of proceeds go to the band.
  • The drawing will be here before we know it. Don’t procrastinate in selling your tickets.
  • Please text 678-372-5971 or email rhsjeepraffle@gmail.com to make arrangements to get a packet and win some great prizes!
  • Target is for each student to sell 45 tickets. Turn in sold tickets and cash to the RHS Front Office as soon as you sell the tickets.
    • First milestone: Sell 25 tickets by 9/25
    • Second milestone: Sell 20 additional tickets by 10/20
  • Weekly prizes: For every 10 tickets stubs turned in, the student’s name goes into a hat. Prizes include movie passes at Aurora, go-karting at Andretti’s, bowling at Bowlero, and coffee at Scooters.
  • Amazon Gift Card awards:
    • Sell 35 tickets, get $20.
    • Sell 55 tickets, get $40.
    • Sell 75 tickets, get $50
