CommUNITY Values
Dear Atholton Families,
I want to thank the parents that attended the Pizza with the Principal meeting this past Thursday. The focus, to discuss those values that define our school community, was productive and thought-provoking. Below I have provided a list of values for you to examine. Please take a few moments to provide your input via the SurveyMonkey link.
This past weekend epitomized what it means to be a part of the Atholton community. On Friday, I had the pleasure of spending the evening with several families at the AHS Bull Roast hosted by the Athletic Boosters. I had a fantastic time and even won a bid from the silent auction! The coaches did a great job with their line dance (I even joined in!). On Saturday, I was happy to spend a beautiful afternoon outside with our track team at an invitational at Pikesville High School (pics below). The team performed extremely well. Congratulations to the following students and the entire track team!
- Cassidy Bunyard placed 2nd in the high jump
- Morgan Young finished 3rd in shot put
- Alex Hargrett finished 3rd in the 1600
- Madison Garrigus placed 4th in pole vault
- Morgan Nasir won long jump with a new school record!
- Kamau Richardson placed 3rd in the triple jump
- Kris Lytle was 2nd in the 100m dash
This afternoon I had the pleasure of stopping by to see several of Atholton students participate in a swim meet at Howard Community College. Congratulations to our entire swim team. Although it is not a sanctioned HCPSS sport, it was nice to see not only our students, but students from high schools all over Howard County.
Now that graduation dates have been released, there will be more and more information pertaining to seniors. Please be sure to check the information in this newsletter for any information pertaining to our seniors.
Lastly, next week is Spring Break. I hope everyone enjoys the week off. There will not be a newsletter next week so I will be back in touch the week after next.
Enjoy the photos of all the events from this past week!
Have a fantastic week!
Warmly,
Robert A. Motley

Class of 2019 IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Caps & Gowns: As of Thursday, April 4, approximately 80 members or 20% of the senior class had not yet ordered their caps and gowns for graduation. Gowns are custom made-to-order, so time is running out! Balfour plans to deliver these items by the end of April. Late orders will be delivered later. To ensure delivery in time for graduation, please place any remaining orders today! To inquire about financial assistance, please contact Mr. Motley or your student’s counselor, and be sure to include the student’s height and weight in your message. Please note that while it is allowed for students to wear an older sibling’s cap and gown, the student must inform Ms. Bonomo-Thomas or Ms. Beneski of their intention to do so, if s/he has not done so already, and must confirm that the cap and gown is the current style (click for picture).
- Senior Meeting: The next senior meeting, at which additional important details and materials will be shared, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24 during Raider Time.
- Graduation Tickets: Each senior will receive a standard allotment of 10 tickets. Additional tickets can be requested by emailing our principal’s secretary, Robbie Adkins at robbie_adkins@hcpss.org, prior to May 16.
- Website: Answers to more frequently asked questions can be found on the AHS website under the Graduation 2019 button. This is where materials from the 4/24 meeting will be posted afterward.
