Introduction
George Washington Carver was the first African American to go to the college of Iowa State University. He probably was one of the most coolest scientist of the scientist, well I know that's my opinion so read it and see how how you like George Washington Carver.
Background
George Washington Carver was an American botanist and inventor. The exact day and year of his birth are unknown he was born into slavery in Missouri, either in 1861, or January 1864 but there is no proof what day or year he was born. He was a slave with his mom and his brother James. His dad was working at a farm far away but shortly after George was born he died. The people that own George and his mom and James taught them how to write and read. But soon after that George and his mom and James was kidnapped and his mom got lost and he never saw his mom again(They say that she died). George and his brother was traded for 300 dollars to the orphanage.
Education
George Washington Carver was the first African American to go to Iowa State college. He was also the first African American to be a professor at Tuskegee. He taught many kids science and he also brought science to Tuskegee. He loved being a professor and helping kids to know the way of science and teach them to make thing out of peanuts. And well he was at the college of Iowa state university he said some quotes first,”Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”, “When you do the common things in life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world”, “Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses”. (McKissack, 2002).
Contribution to Science
He made 100 uses for the peanut and 100 uses for the sweet potato and for seybeans and pea cans . And the number one 100 uses for the peanut was peanut butter. “George Washington Carver is known for his work with peanuts”. He was also called the Peanut man. Here's some of the things he made out of peanuts he made paint, dye, plastic, makeup, gasoline, and many other. He also taught people to make some stuff out of peanuts. He bring science to Tuskegee institute. Since =he work so hard in result he had Franklin D. Roosevelt, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were George Carvers fans (mrdeansden, 2012) (The Story of Liberty, 2014 ).
Conclusion
Sadly but true he died 1943 day January 5. And I believe that we should know about him because he believed in himself and he didn't care if he was African american. He was the first African american to go to Iowa state college and also the first African american to be a professor. And I think he's story it trying to tell people believe in yourself and don't listen to what other people say you can do anything.
