The Weekly Roar
March 18, 2023
Fun-filled Week!
Next, the excitement and joy continued on Wednesday as students and their families return to school for Open House. Parents were led by a personal tour guide, their child, around their classroom. They had a glimpse into what their darlings do each and every day while they are in school. It was truly magical to witness how proud each student was to share the amazing work they have accomplished this school year. Lots of writing, mathematical curiosity, projects, science experiments, computer-generated activities, and many more! Kudos to our outstanding and dedicated teachers who give it their all each and every day, ensuring your child has the best learning experience while at La Ballona. Go Lions!
What happens when St. Patrick's and Jog-a-thon collide? A bunch of adorable and athletic leprechauns running and/or walking the track to celebrate the annual Lion Pride Jog-a-thon! It was fun watching students warm up and cheering each other on. TK students will hold their jog-a-thon on Monday since they were at a field trip. Thank you parents and friends for supporting La Ballona students!
Stay PAWSitive,
Dr. Godbey and Ms. Selva

Bathroom Challenge
We had a challenging time keeping up with our bathroom goal. Students had earned 8 days of no reports, but the seat cover dispenser was pulled off the wall. Yikes! We had to start over. As of Friday, March 17th, we are at 3 days without any disorderly reports in the bathrooms. Let's go Lions!
School Song
The rain put a halt on our monthly Community Assembly a couple of weeks ago, but we are crossing our fingers it doesn't rain for the next one. It has been fun watching students come together in pods to practice the school song. Wonderful! Join us for the next Community Assembly on March 24th! Keep on practicing.

Design by Diversity Event for Students
We wanted to forward along a cool event coming up that the students might be interested in. The event is called Design by Diversity and is a block-party style event that connects Architecture, Engineering, and Construction professionals to students (mostly K-12) to introduce interest early on in various design professions. The event is on Saturday, March 25th at Sci-arc’s campus. It is completely free for all. EYRC is going to have a booth set up where we will be showing off some architectural skillsets (model making, 3D printing, renders, material samples) and offering “ask an architect” type advice. There will be a lot of architecture firms, along with some universities, engineering firms, and construction firms.

Hello coaches and principals,
I am delighted that we have 13 CCUSD teams participating in the April 22nd tournament!!!!!
Regrettably, the parent network before the pandemic is broken and we must rebuild as soon as possible. Our tournament success is dependent upon parent volunteers.
Below is the link to a Google form asking parents to indicate their interest. Please send out requests for assistance, with this link, as soon as possible to parents of all potential participants.
https://forms.gle/f9HV2x9yMjb44Sqh6
