Week 5 Reminders
and Celebrations - Term 3 2021

From the Principal
Dear Families,
I hope everyone is in good health and I hope you have enjoyed a really good week! August is rapidly disappearing isn't it? How quickly the days go by! May we continue to make the most of each and every day that we are blessed with, by supporting one another to 'not sweat the small stuff' and to help and guide our children to be the very best versions of themselves they can be, through good role modelling and wise parenting.
Take care everyone and happy weekend!
School Advisory Council
The School Advisory Council met again on Wednesday evening this week to talk about what has been happening here at school, budget matters, capital and maintenance projects being planned for and where we are heading strategically into the future. Many of you will notice the name change. Since CEWA has become Incorporated, The School Board is now known as an Advisory Council.
Our School Advisory Council members are a really great bunch of parents with a genuine desire to support the whole St Emilie's school community. At the end of the year there will potentially be one or two positions left vacant. If you are at all interested in joining us next year please look out for the 'Expression of Interest Form' that will be advertised shortly. Likewise, please feel fee to talk to a Council member or Stuart or myself if you would like any more information.
Parish Raffle
Many thanks to everyone who bought a ticket in the Parish raffle - your support is very much appreciated.
The draw of the Parish Raffle is now scheduled for Sunday 26 September 2021 after the 9.30 am Mass. Good luck everyone!
School Band
Congratulations to each and every member of our school band who performed at the Vasto Club today. They are a great bunch of kids who have turned up to practises enthusiastically and worked hard as a team. A huge thank you to Mr Nick Dabbs for his ongoing dedication to supporting the music program in our school. His passion and efforts are very much appreciated and make a genuine difference in the lives of our kids.
Year 6 Parents
Please note the dates and times of the Parent/child Confirmation Workshops below. You can choose which session you plan on attending. An external facilitator will run the workshop for us. Looking forward to seeing you and your child there.
Kindest regards
Tania Thuijs
Principal

St Emilie's Family Breakfast - Friday 3rd September!
While this is normally a Father's Day celebration, this year we will be celebrating Mums, Dads families and the St Emilie's school community as we weren't able to celebrate Mother's Day this year due to COVID restrictions.
We are crossing our fingers and toes that:
- We stay in Phase 5 so that we can safely hold the event
- The weather will be kind :)
- That the P&F will hear from some volunteers to help cook and serve
mailto:pandf@stemiliescps.wa.edu.au
- Everyone will come ready to enjoy their breakky burger and to simply catch up with friends and introduce yourselves to a new friend!
Please see the Note/Order Form below!
Thanks everyone and looking forward to seeing you there!

Vacation Swimming Lessons - VAC SWIM
Enrolments are now open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the October and summer school vacation holidays.
VacSwim offers fun lessons at beach or pool locations. They are a great school holiday activity and they teach valuable swimming safety skills to help keep your child safe in the water.

How is your family going with eating fruit and veggies?

A short 3 minute clip for your kids to watch! :)
Fruit and veggies are essential for healthy bodies now and for our future health outcomes.
Try and do a bit of a fruit and veggie audit of your family meals ...
How are you going including a wide range of coloured fruit and veggies in your child's diet each day?
What do your child's lunchboxes look like?
How might you be able to camouflage more veggies into your child's diet if necessary?
Setting up healthy bodies as a child, is a gift for life!
Thanks to all those Mums and Dads who consistently prepare simple, healthy lunchboxes each day -that are not too overloaded.
Keep up the great work!

Kindy Enrolments for 2022 - do you have a child starting Kindy next year?
If you have a child starting next year please ensure that you have completed an enrolment form. We still have some spaces so please spread the word!
Kindy enrolments are an exciting time for our school - we love to meet new families and touch base with our existing families!

Social Worker PARENT REFERRAL and CONSENT FORM
School social workers focus on the student in the school environment and work collaboratively with principals and teachers to minimise the impacts of personal, family and school difficulties and, where possible, remove any barriers to learning.
With students as their focus, school social workers provide consultancy, advice and support to principals, teachers and other school staff and to families so that they can best meet the needs of individual and groups of children and young people. There is a strong emphasis on individual student and family counselling and support. This is an amazing opportunity for kids, staff and families and one we have wanted in our school for some time.
Please find below the Parent Referral and Consent Form to access our School Social Worker.
You are asked to read the procedure carefully and also note that Kylie only works two days a week. While she will do her very best to accomodate all family referrals, patience may be required as she prioritises her case load and allows time for observation visits, classroom support and playground involvement.

Uniform Shop
Image Embroidery now services our school community's uniform requirements.
For all uniform queries, please contact a member of the Image Embroidery team (contact details below).
Their store is just 5 minutes from St Emilie's for 'try ons' or you can order uniforms via their online form.
