Mrs. Hladun's Tidings

I hope you'll agree that LCES is a great place to be, but there is always room for growth, and positive feedback is always appreciated. Please share both with us via our annual school survey (click here). We'll publish a summary of the results in May, and I guarantee you'll see that the feedback influences our goals and priorities for next year! If you complete the survey, be sure to pick up a little thank you gift in the front office - they are in a blue & white bowl on the front counter! :)

A reminder that our food service team serves breakfast each morning in the MPR from 7:45-8:05 am. Students can enter the MPR from the front of the school at 7:45 am to participate; if students arrive later than 7:55 am, they can enter through the MPR door by STAR or from the MPR doors on the interior of campus. Please click here to view the pricing and menus. Also, our breakfast and lunch services are available at reduced cost for those who qualify for free and reduced school meals. More information about the free and reduced meal options can be found here.

The end of the year is quickly approaching...and that means our 9th Annual Talent Show and PTC BBQ are coming up quickly - the big event is on Wed., 6/5. Details about Talent Show auditions can be found here. Audition applications are due by 9 am on Friday, 4/26!

Your Word Matter...

This time of year, we are all getting (a little) tired of the school grind as we look forward to Spring Break and Summer. I know when I'm feeling the grind, I'm not always as careful to use language that is developmental and supportive. Our kiddos are learning from our words and our reactions. I know I think about this a lot when I'm sharp with my own boys. Below is some language that might get you what you need (a moment of peace and quiet, anyone???) while preserving your relationship with your kids.

TBMS Color Run

Twelve Bridges MS is hosting a Color Fun Run on Fri., 5/3 from 4:30-5:30 pm. Funds raised will support a scholarship fund in honor of Alex Westington (a former LCES/TBMS student) as well as TBMS Student Body activities.

Arrival/Departure from Campus - Safety is Key!

We bring about 700 students, staff and family members onto campus every morning and send home slightly fewer each afternoon. Please use common sense when traveling close to the school. It is going to be busy - slow down, put down distractions, be sure your kids what what they need before you arrive at school, and consider leaving your home a few minutes early so that you are not stressed out by feeling late.

A few important reminders:

  • The bus zone is NOT a drop off/pick up zone before and after school
  • Encourage your child to come to school with a buddy
  • Use crosswalks - we provide crossing support at Joiner/Groveland, Groveland/Whitefield, and in our own parking lot loop
  • If you need to get out of your car to help your child, please park in the neighborhood or in a marked spot, not in the drop off areas
  • When you drop off along the school's curb, please pull all the way forward to the Kindergarten area - our Greeters are happy to walk your child to the gate!
  • Please drop off between 7:55-8:10 am (students are late if they are not through the main office by the 8:15 am bell)
  • Please pick up on time - PM K and grade 1-5 supervision ends at 2 pm (Mondays) and 3 pm (Tuesdays-Fridays); AM TK & kinder dismisses at 11:20 am each day and teachers can wait with students until 11:30 am before they have to move onto other job responsibilities

Big picture
