Congratulation to our employees of the month!
These are some reasons why they were selected as employees of the month
Commitment: When asked, students talk about how the extra support is helping them; they cannot say enough about how Mrs. Lawler makes them feel welcome and safe to do better in their classes.
Dedication: Tatiana provides a structured environment with clear and consistent expectations. Students know where their gaps are, how Mrs. Lawler is going to help them, and what their intended outcomes are. Students also go to H-8 during Lunch B, and students know how they can and cannot behave. Her stern and caring presence allow students that time to reflect on their choices. Thank you for your dedication, Mrs. Lawler.
Expertise: Her goals at the beginning of the year were to provide focused, direct teaching aimed at bringing emerging readers to grade level, create a culture of literacy fueled by a love of reading, and support ELA by providing scaffolds for students. She continues to work on these goals using a data-driven decision-making process to assist our students; thank you, Mrs. Lawler. We appreciate all you do.
Mrs. Rivera is exceptionally supportive of our students with IEPs. She does not hesitate to work hard at helping students in their mainstream classes.
She is very flexible when needed, especially this year while we have been short-handed.
Students appreciate her support, even students who do not have IEPs feel comfortable asking her for help. Thank you Mrs. Rivera for being a positive role model and support for our students.
Parent Portal Class

Health and Safety Update
As a school community, we need your help to ensure that we can safely keep students in school and minimize the number of quarantines we might need. If there is a family that is waiting on the results of COVID tests, please keep your student home until the results come in. If your student is not feeling well, please don't send them to school.
Please refer to the VUSD COVID-19 Case Dashboard for updated information on COVID cases. The Dashboard is updated by 7:00 pm daily.
A few other reminders about protocols:
Notify us immediately if your child or any member of your household becomes ill with COVID-19.
Please keep your child home from school if they have ANY of the symptoms listed on the decision tree guidelines (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea).
Have your child vaccinated. Remember, your child will not need to be quarantined if they come in close contact at school if they are fully vaccinated and asymptomatic. The vaccination will keep them in school and able to participate in all of the extracurricular activities like athletics, band, dance, ASB, etc.
If your child is quarantined, then they will receive support/connection with a VUSD Learning Support Teacher, via Zoom and email.
If your child is quarantined, they are to follow along in Canvas for their coursework.
If your child is fully vaccinated, they are NOT required to Quarantine at this time.
Please keep in mind, it is first-come, first-serve.
Please send a refillable water bottle with your student everyday. Roosevelt has refill stations available for your student to use.
The Health Office would like to remind all parents/guardians that PCR/Antigen Covid Test results are accepted as proof of testing for Covid19. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or concerns.
