Suppy Chain Manager
HOURS & SALARY
*£20,000+ per year (with more experience you can earn £25,000-£45,000 per year)
WHAT DOES THIS ROLE INVOLVE?
*Selecting which products are in demand and most likely to sell.
*Training and recruiting new Supply Chain Management staff.
*Ensuring goods are received by retailers in good condition and on time.
*Planning how the goods will travel from stage to stage of the supply chain.
*Coming up with strategies to improve the supply chain process so you can hit targets.
*Using computer software to keep track of the shipments and stock levels.
WHAT QUALITIES/SKILLS DO THEY LOOK FOR?
*You must also be confident with numbers and communicating and be able to solve problems under pressure.
*You need to keep yourself motivated to drive and lead your team.
*An ability to use computer packages such as databases, a good geographical knowledge and foreign language skills are also important.
HOW DO I GET THIS ROLE?
One way of getting into Supply Chain Management is to do a degree in Supply Chain Management or related subjects such as Logistics or Geography.
Or you could start out in a more junior position and then work your way up to a management role.
