Do you have Tuberculosis?

here is all you need to know

What is it?

It is an infectious bacterial disease characterized by the growth of nodules in the tissues, especially the lungs.

The bacteria that cause TB are spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Signs and Symptoms

Most people infected with the bacteria that cause tuberculosis don't have symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they usually include cough (sometimes blood-tinged), weight loss, night sweats, and fever.

Treatment isn't always required for those without symptoms. Patients with active symptoms will require a long course of treatment involving multiple antibiotics.

Tips on how to prevent it

  • Do not spend long periods of time in stuffy, enclosed rooms with anyone who has active TB until that person has been treated for at least 2 weeks.
  • Use protective measures, such as face masks, if you work in a facility that cares for people who have untreated TB.
