NHS Band & Guard
GoldMail: Schedule Change, Cosmic Bowling & Labor Day Parade
Schedule Change for Thursday, 8/29
Given last night's weather and the upcoming Labor Day Parade performance, tonight's practice will be as follows:
- 6 - 7 pm (5:45 pm arrival): FULL Band & Guard
- 7 - 9 pm: Woodwinds excused, Sectionals as originally scheduled for Brass, Drum Line, Front Ensemble/Pit & Color Guard
Cosmic Bowling is Friday, 8/30!
Labor Day is right around the corner...
... so it must be time for the biggest parade in Newtown! Here's everything you need to know about marching with the Blue & Gold on Monday, September 2nd:
Marching Band
- Meet at the St. Rose parking lot no later than 8:15 AM - you will be catching a bus up to our starting point.
- Given the weather forecast, we will NOT be wearing uniforms... all Band members should wear white tops, dark shorts and sneakers
- Bring your instrument but not its case (there is no place to store them)
- No need to bring water (chaperones will carry water for the Band & Guard members)
- Upon completion of marching, members are responsible for setting up a meeting location with their parents -- St. Rose or Hawley school is a good place to meet
Guard
- Meet at the St. Rose parking lot no later than 8:15 AM - you will be catching a bus up to our starting point
- Please refer to Sue White's email for specifics as to the official costume for the day
- Sneakers and low black socks
- No sunglasses
- Flags only (no flag bags or any other equipment, leave them at home)
- If you bring extra bags, it's your responsibility to figure out where they will be for you for the duration of the parade, as they may not be brought with you on the parade route
HELP!
We still need 4-5 more Chaperones and at least 4 people for Pit Crew for the parade -- step up and SIGN UP for these fun roles, 'cause we can't do it without you!
