Costa Rica is a country in Central America that is home to a rich culture. The capital of Costa Rica is San Jose. There are mountains, active volcanoes and a central plateau where most of the people live.

Red-stands for blood shed from battles they have won and freedom.
Blue-stands for the sky and opportunity.
The crest of Costa Rica is also on the flag.

Costa Rica's government is a Democratic Republic. Luis Guillermo Solís is the leader of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Cultural Activities & Entertainment
Juan Santamaría Day is held April 11 every year to celebrate the hero soldier that is Juan Santamaría. Costa Ricans gather around his statue in remembrance of him every year.

Chicharron- a dish made from fried pork rinds.
Chifrijo- a dish made from rice beans meat and a tomato based salad.
Olla de Carne- beef and vegetable soup.

Pre Columbian Gold Museum- Museum where you can see gold artifacts from before Columbus came to America.
Arenal Volcano- a 5437 foot tall active volcano that looms over the jungle.
- Puerto Carrillo- this is arguably the most beautiful of all the beaches in Costa Rica and maybe even the world.
