WHARTON STAFF SPOTLIGHTS
MRS. Chapin
Hi! I am Mrs. Brandi Chapin and I teach 1st grade at Wharton. This is my 12th year teaching in the district and 11th year at Wharton. I taught first grade for two years, kindergarten for ten years, and now I am back in first grade. I have a strong passion for early learners and I believe a parent/teacher partnership is crucial to set kids up for success in school.
My husband is Mr. Kyle and we have two children. Our son is Chace (5,) who started kindergarten this year in Elanco School District. Our daughter is Kenzie (3). We live in Eastern Lancaster County. I was born and raised in Southern Illinois, where I began teaching with my dolls at a very young age. I love traveling, pictures, going on the boat, kids, babies, meeting new people, family time, and making memories.
I moved to Pennsylvania after high school and attended college. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Millersville University. In 2013, I graduated from Penn State with a Master’s Degree in Literacy Education and received my Reading Specialist certification.
This year is going to be one of the most challenging years of my career. I believe communication and grace is how we will get through!

Wharton Garden
- Get involved with the Wharton Garden! The Wharton Garden is a vibrant part of our school’s community, and there are many ways to connect with it:
- Adopt-A-Week: Volunteer to help in the garden for a week and water, weed and harvest. About a 1-2 hour commitment. This is an especially great way for new families to give their kids a way to get to know Wharton while we’re still in virtual mode. Let Carmalena know which week works best for your family.
- Oct 25 to 31
- Nov 1 to 7th
- Nov 8 to14
- Nov 15- 21
- Join the Parent Garden Committee: We meet 2-4 times a year to plan for the use and maintenance of the garden.
