Bear Report

Willow Springs High School: August 2020

And...we're back!

I can't tell you how excited the high school staff is to welcome students back to the building on Monday, August 24! There are some changes to our routines, and my goal in this newsletter is to provide you with information you need to get your student off to a successful start this school year. Thank you to Dr. Spencer for the newsletter template. I have included links to various documents that you may find helpful. If there are still questions you need answered that are not addressed here, please feel free to contact me, and I will do my best to answer them. Our goal is to continue to provide the best education possible for all of our students (those on campus and those at home), every day.

Orientation (Freshmen and New Students)

The 2020 orientation will be available virtually on the school's website and Facebook page on Thursday, August 20. The video will be available through the first week of school.

Reopening Info

At the high school, we will have custodial staff sanitizing public areas throughout the day. Students will use hand sanitizer as they enter and leave classrooms, which have been arranged to allow for maximum social distancing within the facilities we have available. We will remind students throughout the day to maintain as much distance as possible and to move through hallways quickly, without congregating for long periods. Lunch will be served in the classroom.

Neither students nor staff are required to wear masks, but we do encourage it, as it is recommended in current CDC guidelines. We will do our very best to keep our students and staff healthy and safe, and we ask for your support and cooperation as we navigate these difficult times.

If you would like more information on the Distance Learning option outlined in the Reopening Plan, please contact building principal Dr. Spence at or (417) 469-2114 ext. 300. Building offices will be fully open from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. beginning Monday, August 10.

Building Access for Parents/Guardians

Beginning on August 24, we will have different procedures for parents/guardians who need to check students out, drop off materials, or meet with staff. If you need to check a student out of school early, you will ring the buzzer at the front door. The building secretary will ask your name and the name of the student you need to check out. The student will sign out in the office, then meet you outside that door. If you need to drop off materials for a student, ring the buzzer, let the building secretary know the student's name, and place them in the box beside the door. Please do not leave materials without letting a secretary know you are putting them there.

If you need to meet with a teacher or administrator, you may do so in person or virtually, by appointment. We ask that every effort be made to schedule these meetings after school, but we will do our best to accommodate meetings when the parent's/guardian's schedule does not allow an after-school meeting. To schedule the meeting, you may contact the staff member directly by email or call the building office to be forwarded to the staff member's voicemail.

We appreciate your cooperation as we put these temporary procedures in place during the duration of the current pandemic. We look forward to the day we can fully open the building to outside visitors again.
