How to Determine a Serving Size For Dummies

Grains

Each person should eat 6 servings per day.

For example : 1 slice of bread, or 1 oz of cereal.

Vegetables

A person should eat at least 3-4 servings per day.

Examples : 1/2 cup of carrot, or 1/2 cup of vegetable juice.

Fruits

Each person should eat 4 servings per day.

For example : 1/2 cup of fruit juice, or 1 medium fruit.

Diary Products

A person should eat at least 2-3 servings per day.

Examples : 1 cup of low fat milk, or 1 cup of low fat yogurt

Meats & Seafood

Each person should eat at least 3-6 oz servings per day.

For example : 3 oz of meat, or 3 oz of grilled fish.
