AMSHS Weekly Updates
Building independent lifelong learners.
Principal's Corner
This week I asked the staff to share some of the great things happening at AMSHS. Their responses were encouraging and reminded me that we are all in this together as we help our students become independent lifelong learners. I thought I'd share a few with you...
"Students are doing great with lockers and our lunches and snacks look amazing!"
"We have 11 students writing speeches for fall FFA contest this year!"
"Every day, I have students who tell me about their victories in their activities. I can't wait to hear what other victories are in store for our Warriors!"
"I've heard some students practicing the Albany school song! I think this is awesome because, in my days at AHS, this was sung at every pep assembly. I'm hoping it will make a comeback this school year!"
"I was able to meet with almost all of the seniors and I am super impressed with their plans for the future and can't wait to hear about their successes!"
"1st hour STEM class has collected 147 lbs of paper, 24.5 lbs of metal, and 9 lbs of plastics for recycling! Go Green, Warriors!"
"I have seen multiple staff members go above and beyond for our students."
We get to see all these things and more at AMSHS everyday. Our staff has great things planned in the classrooms as we explore new learning and challenge our students each day. It is truly an honor to be part of your child's education and we are thankful for your partnership and support!

Hey Warriors!
We made it through week 3! I wanted to say thank you to all the senior parents who came out for information night! It was great to meet you. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding senior information. We've also linked the handout and slideshow from senior parent night.
I have created google classrooms for each grade level and your students have been invited. I encourage them to join so that they don't miss any important deadlines or events. I will be posting resources for ACT prep, college and trade school information, mental health resources, and more.
Character Trait of the Month: Respect, treating others with courtesy and honor. Teachers are on the lookout for students who are exhibiting this month's character trait.
Seniors & Senior Parents: The website and google classroom is up to date with dates for colleges visiting, deadlines for ACT, and events.
ACT Prep: Juniors & Seniors, there are ACT prep flashcards available to check out from my office. There are also links on the school website and google classroom to some other ACT prep resources.

Grade Checks, Missing Assignments, and Tardies
Our first Grade Check was today. We are not counting this grade check for eligibility but you will still be notified if there are concerns. If you have any questions about grades, please contact your child's teacher.
Attendance is also part of your child's eligibility. We require 90% attendance to be eligible but there is an appeals process if something unforeseen were to occur. For more information on this, please talk to your child's coach or call the office.
Grade checks will be the following dates 1st semester.
September 23rd
October 14th
November 4th and 25th
December 9th and 21st
We did not count tardies for the first 2 weeks of school so students could get the hang of lockers but we did start counting tardies this week and informed the students of this daily. Per our handbook policy, after the 6th tardy, students will serve an after school detention. Please see the disciplinary section of the handbook for more information about our tardy policy.
