In The Know
Meal Delivery - Food and beverage delivery services such as Grub Hub, Uber Eats, Door Dash and others are not permitted on campus. Office staff do not have the ability or responsibility to monitor these deliveries for students. We encourage families to make a plan for their student's lunch. Students may bring a packed lunch or take advantage of the free meals available for all students in the cafeteria.
The Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program paid summer internship and mentoring program for high school students in the classes of 2022-2024, is open until February 14th.
During the Holiday Season our local Starbucks and several other businesses hosted a Give Your Christmas clothing drive to benefit The Brighter Side Giving Store. The emphasis was on athletic type clothing such as sweatshirts and sweatpants. The campaign was a huge success and they now have a large selection of really nice NEW clothes in the store and our Volunteer Hosts are ready to help your students shop. Families can book an appointment to "shop" at: https://everychildlane.org/store/referral/

SUPERINTENDENT SELECTION PROCESS AND STUDENT PARTICIPATION - Process and Student Participation- All community forums are being held virtually via zoom. Alma Advisory Group has scheduled one forum specifically designated for students scheduled for Wednesday, January 26 at 12:00–1:00 p.m. The ask of you is that you share this information with your students. Interested students can log into zoom during their lunch time. We recognize that schedules may not permit the students to stay for the entire hour, but want to make it available to those that can be there for most of the meeting.
In addition, board members have asked that the link to the survey be shared with all students. There is also a special ask to the affinity groups that perhaps some of their regularly scheduled weekly meeting time could be used to take the survey and share their voice. Larry and Misael, can you help get the word out to the affinity groups through your networks as well?
We recognize that not all students would have interest in the superintendent selection process, however, board members would like to make sure all students have the opportunity to share their thoughts. We know that there may be some students who may be interested and would welcome the chance to participate.

Kudos
Ava Albrecht deserves kudos not only for her amazing academic achievement, but for her kindness and enthusiasm in lifting others up. She is super creative and thoughtful and always has something positive and inspiring to express.
Tea Kidder (12th) has been demonstrating an outstanding leader for ASU. She has provided a lot of meaningful activities for ASU members and CHS community. Tea has also contributed her time and energy for the U.S. and Japan friendships among high school students on be half of CHS JPN programs in the past four years.
Carly Wilkinson, Emily Shaver, Cortney Hatfield, Millie Gansen, Sophia Stenshoel, Ella VanWyk and others who have started Unified Basketball! Thanks for stepping up and starting something so incredible. My students and I are so lucky :)
I wanted to share a video of our Churchill cheerleaders competing last Saturday at the Sweet Home Cheer Classic. The girls were very excited about their performance.
I would like to give Kudos to one of our AVID students - Batafing Soumano. She has one of the most positive attitudes I have ever seen. She is in leadership, AVID, and Cheerleading. Despite the challenges she has faced, she always wants to do her best and help others. She applies every principle of Lancer PRIDE everyday.
From the Health Services Team - Kudos to these Health students. This is a list of the students who have generously helped with our health screening. They have been on time, dependable, willing to do the tasks we ask, and have a positive attitude. Overall, it is so nice to work with polite and pleasant students. Elandrea Estrada Duff, Carley Rogers, Skyler Axe, Mia Decker, Lucia Hernandez Merino, Wendy Campos, Evan Thompson, Astrid Braun, Elizabeth Gansen, Haily Vill- Guillen, Lilyan Wood, Akeedrik Hunter, Barbara Elliot, Tabitha Callahan, Bianca Bartolon-Roberlo
Jun Orion - So, a bunch of us showed up to the EEA seminar on Confronting Hate and White Nationalism, and who is there to lead the 40+ teachers? CHS 9th grader Jun Orion! She schooled us with masterful instructional skills and listening skills, thoughtfulness, and profound knowledge. This is a conversation that stumps the experts (how to intervene without pushing people away, when to use what approach, etc.). The future is bright!
STAFF:
Lindsey Champion has taken on multiple long-term substitute assignments here at CHS this year. With each new challenge, she brings to bear her considerable talents and breadth of experience to benefit our students. We are fortunate to have Lindsey on our team.
Counselors - I want to highlight the incredible work that our counselors, Katy McAuliffe, Nita Halstead, Janice Hornsby, and Casey Tiemann have been doing this year. It's been a full load to say the least and this crew is in the front row with students making a difference each day. Each students needs are different and varied solutions are always necessary. Our counseling crew works overtime to meet the need of every student and support them in any way they can. Thank you in volumes to our Counselors. You tend to the heart of CHS!
