Another Great Week!

We had another great week of school. If you’ve seen our school calendar, you know we are busy with events and activities. Our students are doing a great job of taking on leadership roles in all grade levels and doing a wonderful job of encouraging and helping one another. Keep it up students! Thank you, parents, staff, and community for supporting our students and school. Go Rams!

Did You Know?

Akron Elementary has a "Ram Squad"!

For the first time in Akron Elementary history, we have a Ram Squad! The Ram Squad consists of 5th graders who are leaders in our elementary school. Ms.Tara Hamilton is their advisor and the teacher who began this opportunity for our students.

Last May, while students were finishing their 4th grade year, they were given the opportunity to apply to be selected for the Ram Squad student leadership team. Students that were interested filled out an application, provided letters of recommendation and must exude the qualities expected of all of our Rams. Students were selected by filling out an application, asking for a letter of recommendation and rating themselves on various personality qualities. Sixteen incoming 5th graders became our school’s first Ram Squad.

R - Respect

A - Achieve Greatness

M - Manage Self

S - Stay Safe

At last week’s Board of Education meeting, some of our Ram Squad members shared the volunteer work that they have done so far for our school They listed helping with a summer book giveaway, being greeters for all students in the morning, performing crosswalk duty, helping award Student of the Week recipients and any duties that the elementary staff needs help with. They will be making short skits that the elementary will be able to view to relearn and practice good classroom and school rules.

All of our Akron elementary students are now looking up to these great citizens who are setting a high standard for what it means to be an Akron Ram!

Become A Gratitude Magnet

When you are grateful for the things in your life, big and small, you always seem to find more things to be grateful about. Abundance will flow into our life when gratitude flows out of our heart.

Akron College & Career Fair

Our high school and 8th grade students were provided the opportunity to participate in a College and Career Fair on Wednesday, September 21 in the field house. Twenty one representatives were in attendance to share different career and college paths for students to explore, ask questions and gather information. The fair was a huge success!

Thanks to Mrs. Ali Houston and Akron FBLA for organizing this educational event for our students!

5th Grade Field Trip

On Wednesday, our 5th Graders attended the NECO Water Festival at the Logan County Fairgrounds. They learned vital information about how we use water in home and with agriculture, how electricity and water are related, and how plants and wildlife use water in different ways.

The book fair was a success with the kids! Thank you Mrs. Miller for bringing this to our school!

Middle School Volleyball

Our MS volleyball players have been very busy. On Monday all six MS teams traveled to Fort Morgan so everyone got some good playing time and did a great job. The A team brought home a win.

On Tuesday the A, B and C teams travel to Wiggins with the high school players. In Wiggins, the B team lost in two games, the C team lost in 3 games and the A team won in 3 games. All the games were close in score and hard fought battles.
