Lyric Poem
A short poem of song like quality that uses emotion
I Loved a Lifetime
I loved a lifetime in a year
What's left of it? A smile, a tear
I keep them safely locked away
Where the angels waltz and the poets play
So fine a thing I chanced to know
To fiercely love, though long ago
So sweet that dream that haunts me still--
Consumes my soul, and always will.
~ Mel Merrill
