In Case You Missed It:
Congratulations to Kim Stuart and Libby Washington. They both got engaged while we were out.
Please remember that student lunch/ID/PS numbers are confidential. DO NOT post anywhere for other students to be able to acquire, call out in class for others to hear, or have readily accessible for anyone else's eyes. We have had a rash of student accounts compromised and want to ensure it is not because of student numbers are being handled haphazardly. Remember, this number gets student lunch as well as access to grades and into online accounts.
Second quarter benchmarks will take place January 25-27. Our Leadership Team decided at the last meeting to shut down for three mornings for benchmark testing and then work on a modified schedule the remainder of those days. Kisha will be going over what this will look like when we have our UnMeeting, Monday afternoon.
Our CTE classes (taught by Debbie Bryan, Allison Hickman, Mary Berlauk, Drew Lyerly, and Will Trombley) will be giving end of course state tests in their classrooms on January 17 and 18 using Schoollink. These tests should be able to be given in a class period. We will be needing grade level teachers to proctor during planning on these days. Kisha will be coming up with a schedule. Core teachers should only have to do it one of the two days. Remember...it takes a village!
It's that time of year to review your PDP and fill in the mid-year portion to show where you are with your goals. You will need to go into the mid-year review and click "NEW" at the top of the document to record your progress. Make sure to save and mark complete to turn the check mark green. Mentors please check in with your mentees to ensure they know what to do. You will receive an email with your mentee has submitted theirs. You will need to go in and check off you have reviewed. This should be completed by all teachers by the workday, Monday, January 23. Snow days are great days to catch up on "paperwork" ;)
Monday, January 23 is a required workday. Our staff (unless you have a required training off campus) will meet from 9-10:30 for AVID PD. I believe there will be other subject area trainings across the district and will send out a complete list as soon as I have this.
All SafeSchools must be completed by January 27. Team members need to touch base with new hires and beginning teachers to ensure they are able to get into the system. Remember, the due date is different in the system. SanLee gets this completed and finished BEFORE Central Office starts emailing me of the names of who hasn't completed. :) Snow days make a wonderful time to knock out this requirement :)
We have a visit January 18 from our AVID Demo coach, Donna K. We will be visiting several classrooms. She says she will be looking at student notebooks for evidence of the going back and reviewing notes (marking the notes) and agenda use. Please be thinking about your hallway and classroom student work displays and update bulletin boards.
Our new semester begins on January 24. These last weeks before (or first weeks for semester long classes) are a great time to get students to set goals for second semester. We did this a school-wide effort last year and displayed in the hallways. I'd LOVE to see this done again. I will be placing the documents in the SanLee folder for anyone that is interested in doing.
