Living Rosary

On Friday, our middle schoolers led our school in a living rosary. Students with red shirts represented the beads on the rosary for the Hail Mary prayer and the white shirts represented the beads for the Our Father and Glory Be prayers. This was a great visual for our younger students as they prayed along using their own rosary. We were so proud of how reverent the students were during this service.

October is the month of the rosary that includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. We encourage you to pray the rosary at home as a family.

Here is a link from the USCCB on how to pray the rosary

Parent Teacher Conferences---October 18-19 2:30-7:00 pm HAVE YOU SIGNED UP?

Parent teacher conferences are a great opportunity to share academic progress and growth based on classroom observations, assessments, assignments and time for parents to share their child's strengths, needs, behaviors, and learning styles.

We have decided to give parents the option to meet with teachers in-person or choose to meet using Zoom. Our goal is that we meet with 100% of our parents.

All parents must reserve a time on SignUp whether you are meeting in-person or with Zoom. You may also meet with any specialists as well.

Middle school parents--You may choose to meet with any middle school teacher that you feel you need to connect with.

Here is the link to sign up for conferences:

Skatetime School Program, Nov. 15-Dec. 10

Our PE classes will be participating in Skatetime, an in-house skating program beginning Nov. 15-Dec. 10. Skatetime is a comprehensive curriculum based skating unit brought to you and designed to engage students of all ages. All grades, K-8, will be using roller skates. This skating unit is being implemented with an emphasis as a Lifetime activity. Skating provides a variety of benefits, which includes balance, coordination, motor skill, and a top rated cardio-respiratory workout. Students will be learning the basic skating skills such as starting, stopping, forward skating, cornering and a number of safety tips.

The fee for the skating unit will be $10.00 per student. Students are required to wear a helmet while skating. Your child must bring a bike helmet to school to skate or find the time to borrow one from a neighbor. The helmets must be at school for the entire time of this skating unit, otherwise your child will not be able to participate.

Quiz Bowl Team---Grades 6-8----Sign up Now

What is Quiz Bowl?

Quiz bowl is a fast-paced competition in which teams of students answer questions about history, science, literature, art, geography, current events, popular culture, and pretty much anything else. A team wins when individuals “buzz in” and answer tossup questions as well as when the team collaborates on more challenging bonus questions.

Who can compete?

Quiz bowl is open to students in grades 6-8. Each team will consist of 5-6 students. Sacred Heart will compete in tournaments run by the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT).

When are the Tournaments?

Middle school quiz bowl tournaments are generally held on Saturdays with preliminary games in the morning and playoffs in the early afternoon. Tournaments begin in January and continue until mid-March.

When are the practices?

Quiz bowl practices will begin the week of October 18th. A practice schedule will be determined once students sign up. Students will practice answering questions using the buzzer system and working as a team. Because we want to represent Sacred Heart well and because practice makes us more competitive, please do your best to attend practices and tournaments. If there are conflicts, be sure to communicate them with the coach.

How Do I Sign Up?

Contact Mrs. Leisgang or Michael Satterfield, this year’s coach, to sign up for a Quiz Bowl team. You can email them at or Please contact us by October 15th.
