Performance Preview 6.10.16

Our performance preview event features our first opportunity to perform our complete street show for parents, family and friends. This event takes place at SRRMS by the football field and concessions area. The atmosphere of the event is celebratory; however part of the purpose of the event is to raise funds for the program by offering a meal that is followed by the performance. We also have spirit wear on hand and will be handing out the items that parents/students have ordered. If you see something you like, you can order it at the spirit wear table!

Pizza orders need to be in by Tuesday, June 7. The place to put them is in the band room, by the front windows, in the basket on the folder cabinet. Details about payment and schedule for the evening is on the form.

SARTELL AND WAITE PARK PARADES 6.11.16

The parades today will be sequential. We ARE NOT using buses to get students to the Sartell parade and we ARE NOT using buses to bring students home after the Waite Park parade. We WILL BE using buses to transport them from Sartell to Waite Park.

This parade sequence is tricky because of the timing needed to get us from the end of one parade to the beginning of the other when their start times are 90 minutes apart. However, we have done this before and it does work. We need to be very efficient.

Here is the overview of how it works:

  • Students dropped off at the beginning of the Sartell parade route (explained on the handout below).
  • We march the parade (4th band, approximately 25th unit).
  • Upon completion of the parade, students stay in uniform, put larger equipment in cases on the trailer, load the buses and are transported to Waite Park.
  • We unload larger equipment and wait for instructions to step off for their parade.
  • We are the 2nd band from the end of the parade and expect to be stepping off by about 12:30-12:40 pm.

The concern for many of our students is managing food. If you could help them pack some food items that can't spill on their uniform, we will allow them to eat in uniform on the bus ride between the Sartell and Waite Park parades. Students will need to put their lunch in a spot on the band trailer at the beginning of the Sartell Parade so when we reach the end of the parade, they can retrieve it and bring it on the bus with them. Please pack the lunch in a cooler style bag that will keep the items in it from perishing in the heat while in the band trailer.

Chaperones Note: Parents driving the band trailer or serving as chaperones for these parades need to be at SRRHS by 7:30 am.

MILACA PARADE 6.16.16

The Milaca parade has a record number of performing bands this year. There are 24 bands scheduled to perform! Because of this, they have moved the start time to 5:30 pm rather than the traditional 6:00 pm time. We are 17th band in the sequence of bands and will step off approximately at 7:25 pm.

The bands in our class (AA) include Bemidji, Fergus Falls, Litchfield, Alexandria and Sartell. This parade is a 3 class division parade (A, AA and AAA). Caption awards will be given for best drumline, colorguard and drum major in each class. Grand Champion will be awarded to the band with the overall highest score regardless of class.

Our load time at school reflects the need to get to the parade, do our stretch block, vis block, warm-up, dress and run sets. Typically, we arrive 2 hours before we need to step off. View the schedule below for specific times and needs for this parade.

Chaperones Note: Parents driving the band trailer or serving as chaperones for this parade need to be at SRRHS by 3:30 pm.

Sauk Rapids Parade 6.24.16

The Sauk Rapids parade is one of our favorite parades because it is OUR HOMETOWN PARADE!!! We hope everyone comes to support both our band and all of the units that participate.

Because it is our hometown parade, we have more responsibilities to help with. Parents, many hands are needed for this parade. Should you have an interest in helping, please email Mr. Campbell and he will forward you ability to help to those who are working with that part of our parade.

Our awards program is fun to watch. Come and check it out after the parade. It is so positive to see all of the students cheering for each other and being supportive together. Know you are welcomed to come and watch the ceremony.

Chaperone Note: Parents driving the band trailer or serving as chaperones for this parade need to be at SRRHS by 3:30 pm

St. Cloud Parade 6.25.16

The St. Cloud parade is one that we do not use busing. Students need to be dropped off at the beginning of the parade route. This is the area between Hester Park and the St. Cloud Hospital parking lot. Our band trailer will be staged on the road that goes down by the river. Traffic will not be able to drop students off on that road because it is closed off for bands, trailers and buses from other schools.

As soon as we know our line-up position, this text area will be updated for your convenience.

NEW INFORMATION: We are unit G1, which means we will be inserted in the 7th group of units. Each band is a part of a unit in their parade. So, I am guessing there are about 8-10 individual participants in each unit. So, we will assemble at 8:30 am in Hester Park. Follow the map below to find our trailer, then grab your equipment and locate the band. See you at 8:30 am!!

Pick-up will most likely be sometime between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm. at the St. Cloud Public Library area.

Chaperone Note: Parents driving the band trailer or serving as chaperones for this parade need to be at SRRHS by 7:30 am.

Alexandria Parade 6.26.16

The Alexandria parade is one of the biggest spectacles in parade competition for marching bands! We consider it our SUPER BOWL event! Competition is very stiff and the crowd is very focused on the marching bands because this parade only has marching bands. No floats, no politicians--just marching bands.

The parade begins at 1:30, but the awards usually begin about 5:30 pm. Parents may wish to send extra food items for this day because it does go long. We usually are home by 8:00 pm. Please come join us for this final competition season parade. Wear your Storm Chaser shirts and make some noise as we march down the street and perform.

Chaperones Note: Parents driving the band trailer or serving as chaperones for this parade need to be at SRRHS by 9:30 am.
