Discipline, Restorative Justice, and Zero Tolerance - Oh My!
We can probably all agree that discipline has been a hot topic of conversation this year. While we have made great strides in putting supports in place for students, we still have a lot of work to do.
Have you heard of schools using meditation, yoga, and mindfulness to help students regulate emotions? It is becoming more and more widespread with much success.
Mrs. Breaux needs your help! How can we get creative in implementing programs such as mindfulness to help with prevention of discipline? If you know of someone who would be willing to volunteer time to provide this service to some of our students weekly, or if you have more ideas, please email Mrs. Breaux.
Science Fair
If you haven't submitted your topic for science fair projects to Mrs. Roth, please email it (them) to her by Monday, March 11th. The science fair is fast approaching.
Science experiments need to be done and display boards need to be ready by the morning of March 27th. Please see Mrs. Roth if you still have lingering questions or need guidance on particulars. If you haven't received your supplies for displays yet, they are on their way!
Mrs. Roth is looking for some teacher volunteers to facilitate on the evening of the 27th. Please also let her know if you are interested. Thank you!
Professional Learning Program (PLP)
- Publication of choice sessions will occur throughout the year in Frontline.
- All Essential sessions will be published and opened for registration in Frontline May 2. Additional information will be shared April 25 via a principals’ packet memo.
- It is vital that profiles in Frontline be set to accurately reflect the current teaching assignment and to allow notifications. This ensures that as relevant sessions are added, an email notification will be sent. Attached directions are provided to assist in setting up individual profiles.
Need assistance with setting up Frontline profiles? Please call the Office of Professional Growth and Innovation at 263-6972.
Save the Dates!
The Digital Learning Summer Summit is back again this summer! Don't miss out on a great opportunity for technology professional development!
Sign-ups open March 15th in Frontline.
VBCPS School Counseling Survey
In an ongoing effort to evaluate the school counseling program in VBCPS, students, parents, and staff will be asked to participate in a survey.
At the elementary level, 5th graders will take the survey between March 18-April 11. A link will be sent to the 5th grade teachers.
The staff survey will be administered online. The Office of Research and Evaluation will send survey invitations directly to the VBCPS email address of principals, assistant principals, teachers and school counselors March 18. The administration of the staff survey will remain open through Thursday, April 11.
Youth Art Month Show
Youth Art Month Show is at the MOCA, March 1-27. Three of our students have art on display. Stop by MOCA this month to see some amazing talent!
