Happy Retirement to Tracy Childers, Jill Erwin, and Tammy Lang

I wanted to announce the retirement of three of our staff members. Tracy Childers, Jill Erwin, and Tammy Lang have decided to retire from teaching this year. All of these ladies have influenced MANY lives at Cullins Elementary during their time in Rockwall ISD. Tracy has spent 30 years in education teaching elementary students. She has been at Cullins for 20 years and spent time teaching in Garland as well. Jill is completing her 31st year in education this school year. She has spent 17 years teaching at Cullins, both Art and 6th grade math. She has also taught in Richardson ISD and Pittsburg ISD where she taught Elementary Art and 7th and 8th grade. Tammy Lang is completing her 28th year in education and her 25th year at Cullins. Tammy also spent a few years teaching in Mesquite before she came to Rockwall. These three leave behind an AMAZING legacy at Cullins and we will celebrate their accomplishments!!! Join me in congratulating Tracy, Jill, and Tammy for their many years of service. Happy Thursday Friends!!!

I was scrolling through Facebook last night and ran across one of those "Vintage" things that got me thinking......... The Weekly Reader has made a TOTAL transformation over the years! I remember getting the paper copies in elementary school and learning about all the current events of the month. Now we are a society of instant news. We know the instant something happens and have the capability to give our comments, etc. on social media and other outlets. How does today's society of instant response change the way you teach your students? How do you challenge students that can find information at their fingertips on any given subject? Our world has changed so much over the years, yet our educational system looks basically the same as it always has. What are you doing every day to make education innovative, exciting, and aligned with the 21st century learner's needs?

It is going to be a busy weekend for me! Tomorrow I will be joining our HR Department to attend a college recruitment fair for new teachers. It is so exciting to meet brand new baby teachers!!! Saturday morning is the Rockwall ISD Job Fair. This is also an exciting time as we meet many that are entering our field or want to join our great district!! I'm hoping for a little R&R the rest of the weekend!!! Enjoy yours!

Go out and BE AWESOME!!!
