Important Information:
1. Prize Box is ALMOST EMPTY
We have almost run out of prizes in our prize box! This makes me a happy teacher because it means that my students are earning signatures for their great choices and behavior! However, it also means we need more prizes! Please send in prize box donations if you are able.... I would GREATLY appreciate it, and I know your 2nd graders would be thrilled
Thank you Olivier and Mithra for your donations to our Prize Box, and thank you Madeline for our new pencil sharpener! :)
2. STUDY ISLAND is posted for Reading and Math this week!
However, many of you are mentioning that you cannot see MY assignments this week (only Mrs. Houston). Please email nturan@fultonscienceacademy.org if you are experiencing this problem. He will be able to fix it for your child.
3. Valentine's Day Celebration and Dance on Friday, 2/12
Students can bring in Valentine cards if they want :)
Thank you to everyone who signed up to send in snacks & treats!
4. Homework packet due 2/12!
It is uploaded to FSAconnect in your child's math section.
5. Valentine's Dance volunteers still needed!
6. Bring in BOX TOPS for NJHS
The class who brings in the MOST wins the competition and a dress down day!
7. "Buy a cutie for your cutie" fundraiser is still happening this week in the cafeteria.
Students can bring $2 to send their valentine a special treat! :)
8. Dr. Seuss Day is coming SOON! (March 2)
This is SUCH a fun day for our elementary students celebrating reading and the awesome author Dr. Seuss! Students will even be able to dress up like a Seuss character (if they choose). I can't wait to see my fun 2nd graders and their costumes.

Curriculum Corner
Reading/Language Arts:
This week's story is called "SOIL" We will work more in depth with fact and opinion and sequencing. We will also continue to work with adjectives and writing complete paragraphs with a proper introduction and conclusion sentence. This week we are specifically focusing on comparative and superlative adjectives.
Ms. P's Math Class:
Students in Ms. P's class will begin measuring volume on Monday! We will continue with measurement by studying and quizzing over Volume, and Customary Units of Length. Once we have mastered them all we will have one big measurement assessment!
Ms. Minor's Math Class:
Ms. Minor's Math Class will be testing on money this MONDAY! Students are bringing home their study guide. The test will be formatted the same way, just different numbers (and less questions)! Study this weekend to make a GREAT grade! We will begin measurement on Tuesday! Don't forget to send in your 3A books if you haven't already! :)
Science:
We are starting our new chapter all about Plants and Animals this week! This will be a very fun chapter for our class. We will begin this week with classifying animals.
Social Studies:
In Social Studies we are continuing our economics in-class project! The students are required to use specific vocabulary words such as: needs and wants, opportunity costs, and much more!
