Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to wear college apparel throughout the week.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Please park in the back of the building (bus and activity lot), then enter door #11.
These are open to anyone who would like to meet with their child's teachers.
Teachers may also reach out to some parents to set up a conference as needed.

Pawsitive Choices
Huge thanks to Megan McNeely, who is leading the program at Scottsburg MS.

Grading Period Ended on September 23rd
Grades will be finalized by Tuesday, September 27th.
Report cards will be published and accessible in Harmony Family Access on Wednesday, September 28th.
Reminder to athletes and club members:
If you have an F on this report card, you will be ineligible to participate in your club/sport until the next report card in mid-November.
This means you will not be able to finish the current season or try out for the next season until you have all passing grades on your report card.

Activities on Monday, October 10th
In an effort to encourage students to start the grading period with consistent work completion habits, we are planning several activities throughout the building during the afternoon of Monday, October 10th.
In order to be eligible to participate, students must have completed/submitted all assignments in every class from Monday, September 26th through Friday, October 7th. In addition, they cannot owe a detention or ISS on Monday, October 10th. Students who need to complete work or take care of their disciplinary consequence will spend those two hours in a work room with a teacher.

Student Handbook Update
The Scottsburg MS student handbook contains some significant updates for the 2022-2023 school year. The most significant changes took place in the discipline section.
Here are the highlights of three changes that will impact the largest number of students:
Cell phones are still not allowed to be used during the school day here at SMS. Phones are expected to be turned off and stored in lockers. Students who are carrying a cell phone or using a cell phone during the school day are in violation. The consequences for each situation are outlined in the handbook.
Second is illegal substances. This year students who have illegal substances and/or paraphernalia (most common examples are vapes, cigarettes, or alcohol) will be recommended for expulsion on the first offense.
In an attempt to be more aligned with the high school discipline policy, we will be following a progressive discipline approach. This means that when a student commits the same offense multiple times, the discipline will get progressively more serious. Each example is outlined in the doc that is provided by clicking on the picture above or via the link below.

We encourage you to read the handbook with your child(ren) and to contact us with any questions you may have.
We are looking forward to working with our students and their parents throughout the upcoming school year.
