Apple Dumplings - Life and Family Services

Dear Churches: Ladies Groups, Men's Groups, and Youth Groups

Life and Family Services is in need of volunteers to assist us with our Apple Dumpling/Apple Festival fundraiser. We need people to lend hands to the process. Please come and assist us with making the Apple Dumplings for the Kendallville Apple Festival. We have wonderful fellowship and friendships. You will be assisting the young families in Noble County when helping with this project. Over the first 6 months of 2017 we have seen a 7% increase in clients served. We have seen a 29% increase in total visits in our doors at LFS for shopping BABE or education. We have had an increase of 68% in our education visits. Join us in making Noble County families stronger!!!

We begin with mixing the Apple Dumpling dough on August 2nd.

Where: St. John's Lutheran Church in Kendallville

Time: 8:00-Noon and Noon-4:00

What: mixing and bagging 85 batches of pastry dough.

Tasks for the day are measuring ingredients, running the mixer, needing dough, bagging dough, lifting the mixing bowl, lifting the boxes of lard and bags of flour.

The next week we will roll the dough. We have a machine that begins the rolling process and makes this process much easier for each person to finish. We have men that even enjoy this task.

When: On August 7, 8, and 9

Time: Each day 8 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. AND 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Where: we will meet at Bethel Christian Baptist (close to 6 & 9 by Rome City).

What: Bring a rolling pin and a friend for rolling the dough. You will place the dough on a wax paper sheet. We then package them for freezing.

The next part of the process is to assemble the YUMMY Apple Dumplings.

When: September 17

Time: Noon - 5:00 with clean up to follow

Where: Crosspointe Family Church - 210 Highpointe Crossing (just off Drake Rd.) Kendallville

What: That day we will peel and core the apples, then the apple is placed on a dough square, cinnamon and sugar added, wrapped and bulk packaged for the freezer.

We have many areas that helping hands are needed. We welcome you to come and stay as long as you can. Time fly's in this process and at the end of the day we have 7,200 dumplings in the freezer.

Last but not least is the Apple Fest weekend. October 7 & 8.

We have a booth at the festival and we have a baking center at the Kendallville Event Center. It takes approximately 25 people each hour to complete this process.

Please call 260-347-5720 or email to let us know that individuals or groups are willing to assist in this process. Many hands make light work!!

Please contact us if you have any other questions. Please consider joining this process and all the money earned from this fundraiser stays right here and helps the Noble County community.

Please consider lending a hand in this Apple Dumpling project.

God Bless,
