The Wilmot Word: 01-27-23

This Week at Wilmot

This week we held our annual spelling bee for 4th and 5th-grade students. I want to congratulate all of the classroom winners who participated in the spelling bee this week as well as the alternates. We are very proud of our Wilmot Spelling Bee winner, Asher, and the runner-up, Aunie. Asher will represent Wilmot in the regional spelling bee next month.

Thank you to Mrs. Miltimore and Ms. Brantman for organizing and running this event (and thank you to our special judge, Mr. Simeck)!

Kindergarten and New to Wilmot 1st -5th Grade Registration For 2023-2024 is Now Open! In-Person Registration is Next Week.

If you have an incoming kindergartener (or a new to Wilmot 1st-5th grader) for the 2023-2024 school year it is important that you complete the registration process as soon as possible. The first step is to complete the online application. Click here to access the online forms. Please share this information with friends and neighbors. It is important that all incoming students register as soon as possible as our staffing decisions are based on the number of fully registered students.

Please note that only those students who are fully registered will receive an invitation for our spring Kindergarten Round-Up.

Active K-5 students currently enrolled are NOT required to re-register annually. Early Learners Pre-K students ARE required to register for Kindergarten.

Note: These documents can be uploaded with your online registration application if you wish. Skyward limits you to one document, so it works best if you are able to scan your documents into one PDF file. You will still need to show us the original birth certificate in person.

Social Emotional Learning Survey for 3rd-5th Grade Students

Building students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is important at Wilmot School. As a part of the learning process, we will be asking our students to reflect on their own SEL mindsets via an online survey. The survey will be administered between January 30-February 10, and it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. It asks students to self-reflect on their own grit, growth mindset, self-efficacy, self-management, social awareness, and emotional regulation.

Individual student responses can provide the school and family with insight into what skills the child self-identifies as strengths and others they would like to develop. The overall data helps us (the educators) identify priorities and provide targeted learning opportunities to address the SEL needs in our classrooms.

Social Emotional Learning for K-2nd Grade Students

In grades 3-8, students take an online survey to reflect on skills related to social-emotional learning and the school environment. To gather feedback from our youngest students, we have created a very short survey to administer to Kindergarten through 2nd graders between January 30-February 10. This survey will collect information about Sense of Belonging and Engagement, and the results will help guide our improvement at the school level.
