December 2022
“A different language is a different vision of life.” — Federico Fellini
Dear CISL Students, Parents, & Guardians!
November was a wonderful month in the CISL program. I was excited to see so many CISL students taking advantage of incredible opportunities through the CISL program. From our TIPSS participation, to volunteering at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, the conclusion of our Fall CISL Book Club, a fantastic general meeting with an alumni guest speaker and crafts, and the ETC International Night where we met exchange students from all over Northern Virginia.
December offers even more incredible opportunities including a performance at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, our ongoing fight in Dressember to end human trafficking, and modern day slavery, an Oxfam Hunger Banquet, and an incredible December General Meeting. Please check out the rest of this newsletter, the CISL canvas page and the Hylton website for additional information on the current CISL events.
We are also approaching the deadline to enroll in the French Exchange to travel with Hylton students and faculty to our sister school in Dijon, France. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Terenchin no later than Friday December 9th and you must enroll online and pay your deposit by Saturday December 10th. Please email me at terencce@pwcs.edu if you have questions, if you would like the recorded interest meeting zoom, or if you would like to receive either a digital or paper copy of the application.
Applications for to join Specialty Programs in PWC are available now! CISL student committee members I are working hard to visit all PWC 8th graders to talk about our amazing CISL program. Families please remember that all rising 8th graders, as well as students underclassmen in grades 9 & 10 are welcome to apply to join the CISL program. Please encourage any student between 8th-10th grade in your lives whom you think might be a fit for the Hylton CISL program to apply! Let me know if you have questions! (The link to the application is at the bottom of this newsletter). We will also have our second in-person interest meeting for the CISL program at Hylton High School on January 11th at 7:00 pm. Hope to see you there.
Huge shout out to the CISL students, CISL Student Committee, and the CISL Boosters for all of the help and support throughout the month of November!
Happy December and Happy Holidays Everyone!
Mrs. Terenchin

Join us for Dressember in the fight against Human Trafficking & Human Slavery!
Dressember- Our vision is a world where all people are free!
Every day during December, we wear a dress or tie to bring awareness and collect donations to end human slavery and human trafficking. For one month a dress or a tie will serve as our flag, together we will carve a path to a better future! Your support will fund holistic, life-saving prevention, rescue, and aftercare through our programmatic partners.
Every year, thousands of advocates around the world take on the challenge of wearing a dress or tie during the 31 days of December. The dress or tie serves as the conversation starter to educate your community about human trafficking. Through your personalized campaign page, you'll be able to share your journey with your community and make a tangible impact in the fight against trafficking. We equip you every step of the way with the tools to become an every day advocate. We believe #YouCanDoAnythingInADress, including raise millions of dollars to support the fight to end human trafficking. Join us this December.
CISL students there are three main ways to participate!
1. Hylton students and families can commit to wearing a dress or tie every day in December and join our CISL Bulldog Dressember Team by clicking on the link below and selecting join a team, search "CISL Bulldogs" you can build your own fundraising page linked to the CISL Bulldogs Team. (See Link Below).
2. If you can't commit to dressing up every day of December consider being an ally and showing your support by dressing up on Fridays and meeting in front of the CISL office every Friday morning in December to take a group picture in our formal wear to support the Dressember campaign. And share our messages on twitter and instagram about our Dressember progress. Encourage people you know to donate! Also stop by and see us at lunch next week on Monday December 5, 6, and 9th in the Commons!
3. Make a donation to this incredible cause. You can donate either to the CISL Bulldogs team or to a specific student's team! Every dollar counts! (See Link Below).
CISL students can earn CISL points for this activity based on their level of participation. Let Mrs. T. know if you have questions!
