November 2020
“In November, the smell of food is different. It is an orange smell. A squash and pumpkin smell. It tastes like cinnamon and can fill up a house in the morning, can pull everyone from bed in a fog. Food is better in November than any other time of the year.” -Cynthia Rylant
I always loved how author Cynthia Rylant captured the quintessential essence of this month in her children's book, In November. I have fond memories still of reading aloud this book, with it's beautiful words and illustrations, each year to students in the library!

RAC Convening on School Libraries: November 18
Under normal circumstances, school libraries staffed by certified school librarians are essential. In the current remote learning environment, they are indispensable. With the sudden shift to online learning and the associated needs and challenges, school librarians have adjusted their practices to continue to serve students, teachers, and families in innovative ways. This program will highlight some of the exemplary work that New York State school librarians, and the systems supporting them, have engaged in since COVID-19 related school closures in March.
